Our November notes will not be too long - lack of news - and not too cheerful. You will see in the In Memoriam section of this or a subsequent issue a write-up of John William Mac Lennan who died August 29. Mac had planned a trip to the East including Hanover this fall but he did not make it. Please note his going on your August 15 class list only recently distributed. Bill's widow, Eunice Cashion Mac Lennan, is a well known painter, listed in Who's Who of American Women, and has received many prizes and awards throughout the country for her work. A note from NedKenerson, an old friend from Roxbury Latin School days, concludes with this appreciation of the Mac Lennan brothers: "They were fine grounded, high type of men who would have pleased Prexie Tucker as the kind he hoped the College would produce." Bill's passing is a real loss.
You have received your bill for class dues, with a note from the Treasurer giving a clear and well reasoned explanation for the slight increase. Your prompt remittance, as usual, will evidence your approval and continued class financial support.
Our local radio announcer winds up his morning stint with the good advice, "Smile awhile - it's good for you." The same to you folks from your secretary and don't be afraid to write him.
It is with great sadness that we record the death of Pray Wadham, our class treasurer and former class secretary, on October 2. In a telephone conversation with his daughter at Camp Hill, Pa., we learned that Pray suffered a heart block and that the end came suddenly, without pain and without illness. Funeral services were held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Harrisburg on October 5. Flowers were sent from the Class.
Pray was entitled to be called "Mr. 1903." He served as our class secretary from 1958 to 1962 and then accepted the job of class treasurer, which he filled until the time of his death. In the 1940's he served as a member of the Dartmouth Alumni Council. He was a loyal and hard-working class officer and in all respects one of the finest of Dartmouth men. We will miss him. An obituary will appear in the In Memoriam section of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE next month.
