Ivy League football came to Northern California and, despite the fact that basketball and skiing may be more in the limelight, the Big Green was enthusiastically received. Seventy-five members of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Northern California gathered on Friday, January 31, at Veneto's Restaurant in San Francisco to see the highlights of the '63 season. Classes all the way from '14, with Dr. William Washburn, to '63, with Klaus Schmiegel and Barry Sharpless, were represented. Tom Tryon, a Dartmouth candidate, was also present.
Art Young '46, our genial president and football expert, cautioned that there might have been a slight bit of editing to the film. But the team looked like a well-coached, aggressive organization. All of us expatriates felt a thrill at seeing the Big Green once more in action. The fall colors were there, and almost the smell of burning leaves.
