In response to my plea some months back for news about yourselves, I received a very interesting letter from Sabe Basescu. Sabe keeps very busy as you will notice, and reports on his activities as follows: "I continue to practice psychoanalysis in both New York City and Larchmont, but I devote more and more of my time to teaching, lecturing and writing. A lot of the teaching I do is in connection with training psychotherapists. I am on the faculties of the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health, New York Clinic and Adelphi University." Sabe also is president-elect of the Westchester County Psychological Association and we wish him much luck in this new position. If space permitted I would also like to share with you his comments on his visit to Hanover with Elly last summer. Sabe said he didn't realize how delightful it was for a summer visit with culture as well as complete facilities for all kinds of summer activities. I'd suggest that some of you try a visit this summer as I'm sure your loyal feelings for the college would be revived if they have in any way waned.

After leaving the ministry some time ago, Tom Crook became associated with Marts and Lundy, a company which manages campaigns for various purposes. Tom is living in Columbus, Ohio.

Frank and Marguerite Murphy are living in Little Rock, Ark., where Frank is a civil engineer with McNutt-Schneller Inc. Previously he had been with the Arkansas Fuel Oil Company.

At long last our sea-roving classmate WaltSchubert has settled down on dry land. After running his own charter ship for years with his wife Jo as chief galley hand, Walt is now general manager of the Cape Santa Maria Club on Long Island, Bahamas. This probably is not quite as exciting as being skipper of a boat, but at least Walt isn't more than a stone's throw from those fishing waters he knows so well.

The other day I heard that Dave Kurr was moving to New York from Philadelphia where he had been active in the squash racquets circles. I hope to have a game with Dave again as it has been a long time since we played in Hanover. He was still with Reynolds Metals the last I heard.

After attending the annual Alumni Fund Dinner here in New York and listening to President Dickey's inspiring talk on some of the educational programs taking place at the college today, I certainly can urge all of you to do your best and contribute all you can, because in the 50th year of the Fund Drive an attempt is being made to raise more money than ever before. I know '48 will do its best for the college which itself is doing a great job. Present at the dinner were Lou Perry, Jim Schaefer, Mort Smith, Rick Landon, Charlie Herterich, and Bud Gedney. They are all prepared for a 100% record in the New York area.

We all felt badly when we heard that Bobo Russell was in the hospital in Kingston with a bad break in his leg resulting from a skiing accident. I certainly want to express the feeling of all the class in wishing Bobo a speedy recovery.

About six months ago Hugh Ettinger left Investors Diversified in Minneapolis to join the investment firm of J. M. Dain in that city. Hugh's joining Dain as an analyst will be a valuable asset to this firm as Hugh has always done a very capable job.

Just so they can keep things on an equal basis, Red Evans's wife Joan had another daughter named Nancy Lynn on Feb. 9. This makes two boys, Walter, aged ten, and Craig, eight, and two girls, Sara, five, and the new baby. Red is still with International Paper Company in a sales capacity in Chicago.

Congratulations to Dave Packard who just became vice president of the First U.S. Corporation in Memphis, Tenn. The firm is a prominent municipal bond firm which has a national distribution. Dave has been selling for the firm and I am sure doing a great job. He reports that he and Ginny love living in Memphis.

I received word the other day that JohnFenno has just joined the Beechnut Life Saver Company in Canajoharie, N. Y., and he, Grace, and the rest of the family moved there recently. This really isn't too far away, so John should be able to get home to Lyme often. John will be in the purchasing department and will be responsible for the purchase of selected packaging material.

Moving from Chicago to Philadelphia we find the Jim Duffy family. Jim and Jeanne have a daughter, nine and twin sons, seven. When in Chicago, Jim was in the investment business.

That's about all for this month. I hope to have lots of information for you next issue.
