Park Forest Star's headlines "Rich GOP Women To Hear Candidates" read like Democrat propaganda, but the Rich referred to nearby Rich Township. One candidate was John H. Altorfer featured in this "Coffee with the Candidates" series. John is seriously contending in the Republican primary for Lt. Governor, Illinois. If looks and background impress the voters, John should be victorious. He's equally at home with Poor (township) women as well. Good luck to you!

Peripatetic Frank Hartman sent a French postcard from Paris that made our mailman drop three neighbors' bills in the wrong box. Real art - from the Louvre - where Frank spent his spare time in uplifting pursuits. Frank, I already told Stan Calder that Margo and you would pick him up at 34th and 7th Ave. for the Hanover reunion trip. John Earle sounds as though life treats him pretty well in Los Angeles, where he is western salesmanager for the Bobbie Brooks Corp. children division called Stritchini. The Earles have 4 children, the youngest 5. A flying enthusiast in Hanover, John recently became a soaring buff, cloud hopping and thermal circling over the California hills. His other activity is scrambling over, around, and through the Sierras.

Mel Fenichell, a commuter to One Chase Manhattan Plaza from the wilds of Darien where he lives with his wife and two children, has been named a general partner of Eastman Dillon, Union Securities & Co., investment brokers and bankers. He joined the firm in 1961. Previously he was supervisor of oil and gas investments with the New York Life Insurance Co. and did geological exploratory work in South America with Standard Oil Company of New Jersey. He has a George Washington University Law School degree too.

Congratulations to Jim Elleman elected to the Dartmouth Alumni Council for a two-year term beginning July. He joins BusMosbacher in this distinguished group. Notice how this class is coming to the forefront in alumni leadership? Green Derby winner, honorary degrees, and now the biggest class reunion turnout in history. ...

George Munroe rests on no laurels and is quietly firing up the class effort in this year's Dartmouth Golden Anniversary Alumni Fund. Holding our 20th reunion and defending our first Green Derby Championship, we must come through with over $17,560. 87 classmates are helping George on his Agents' team with Bob Field, Fred Lent,Ed Lider, Torn Schroth, and Jack Troster as regional head agents. When you get their call, GIVE. ... Aside to Charlie Dorkey: Save the thirty-five cent call - I'm giving.

New venture for Tony Guyther is his art gallery on Long Island's south shore where Tony sells rare, quality works of art. At the Wautagh Art Gallery, 3267 Merrick Road, Wautagh, Tony promises more than customary attention to Dartmouth people visiting him.

Good to know about John Keefe's promotion to vice-president and secretary, Textile Banking Co., a subsidiary of Commercial Credit Company. John joined this factoring firm as counsel in 1955 after Yale Law School and duty with Sullivan and Cromwell, McKesson and Robbins. '43 has lots of lawyers, many in business.

Strange that a recent Kelly Coffin news-letter should mention Ernie Sauls. Many of you have inquired about him. Old Era just postcarded from East Cadiz where Myra and he opened a new discount store catering to the mobile home set - propane gas, blowout patches, brake lining, ice, etc. With business coming into its peak season, Era won't make the reunion but sends his best to Jack Meleney and Bud Hall for what Ern calls a wingding. Almost illegibly (but the point is well made) he writes, "Sure hope they elect a new sec. in June. You've had it!" Thanks, Ern. Always said shipmates went down with the "Maine."

Tom Schroth, besides editing the "Congressional Quarterly" and raising money for the Alumni Fund, now lectures at The American University, Washington, in a course called Government News Reporting. ... Fred McRae, long silent hereabouts, appears as the new assistant production manager, William Morrow, publishers. With Morrow since 1950, Fred was previously with Doubleday. ... John Hutchinson, Sanborn House stalwart if ever there was one, is director of special events and public affairs, WBEN television and radio, Buffalo. Hutch had Navy duty in the Pacific, joined WBEN-TV shortly before it went on the air in 1948, became executive producer in 1953, later specialized in sales work. Jean and he have three children, Todd, Bill, and Holly, reside in Williamsville, N. Y. . . . Wouldn't be spring without noticing that Bob Lappin is chairman, advanced gifts division, 1964 Jewish Community Federation of Greater Lynn. Lap may never have made Paleop, but his wife Mimi and he are very active in Lynn and Swampscott community affairs.

One month closer to June 18-21. Plans are really forming. Reunion, New England vacation, World's Fair. Don't miss it. There really is no nicer place in the world than Hanover in June. Like coming home all over again. Be there.
