In June the Middle States Council for the Social Studies presented its distinguished service award for the year 1965 to RobertI. Adriance, educator, lecturer, author, essayist, traveler.

In making the award the secretary said: "We recognize you as a very capable and gifted teacher with more than fifty years of service in the varied fields of the social sciences, especially history and economics, and we honor you still more for your vision and leadership while serving us-as president."

Bob is retired and living in Orono, Me., near one of his daughters. Says he feels quite international as he has a German grandson-in-law and will soon have a British granddaughter-in-law.

Max Hartniann recently wrote Art Chapin a long letter about his wanderings in Europe. One of the places which he says is his idea of a fine community to live in is Wiesbaden, a beautiful city and the people well-mannered and friendly. No beatniks. Max can be reached at Calle Salud 106, Palma, Spain.

On April 19, the Norwich Historical Society was host to the Hanover, N. H., Society and the principal speaker was FrancisChilds.

On May 4 Nat Leverone was the luncheon host and speaker at the Codes of Conduct meeting in Chicago. And at Chicago's 44th annual Youth Week celebration he was the luncheon host and the principal speaker.

This summer the Chicago Press Veterans Association awarded Nat an honorary membership in their association. This marks the first time in the Association's history that an "outsider" was so honored.

Thanks to the gifts from the 45 classmates and 57 widows and families in the 1965 Alumni Fund campaign, the Class of 1906 exceeded its quota. Much of the credit for this was due to the help of my assistants, Art Chapin, Hal Fish, Bill Page, and Cap Pierce.
