DECEMBER 1965 JUDSON T. PIERSON, GEORGE N. FARRAND, WOOD R. FOSTER

October 8, 1966, seems like a long time away but put it down on your calendar and make plans promptly. Princeton will be in Hanover again on that date and GeorgeDrowne has already made arrangements with the Norwich Inn to reserve a room for at least 50 33ers to be on hand for another successful miniature reunion. George can't be responsible for making housing arrangements, though, so get on the ball quickly because last year Hanover and environs were mobbed. Sorry Ginney and I don't have unlimited space to entertain all of you for the weekend but perhaps I can say that I shall try to find accommodations for any of you who can't make arrangements on your own. But act quickly!

Please bear with me as I quote President Charles E. Spahr of the Standard Oil Company of Ohio. "Our adoption of a Sohio Matching Gift program is a further step by our company to help solve the problem of the tremendous financial burdens with which our colleges and universities are being confronted in their attempt to meet the increasing level of American educational standards." I don't like to belabor this point, but many in our class could make important contributions to the Alumni Fund with their own and the matching gifts of their companies. As we draw near the end of 1965 and look forward to next year's Alumni Fund, perhaps some would like to consider gifts taxable this year which would be matched by their companies. 1933 should be doing a better job and this is one way it can be done double! Many other classes have come up from the doldrums and done themselves proud and there's no reason why we can't.

In his last Newsletter, Bob Fox reported on the large number of '33ers on hand for the Penn game and for the dinner after-wards. Ginney and I had the pleasure of seeing another large group from the class the weekend of the Harvard game. Miriam and Sid Stone Hi an invited us to a pre-game brunch at their delightful apartment on Beacon Hill. There we had the opportunity to be with Babe and Bob Fox, Jan and Wes Beattie, Jean and John Meek, Ray and George Theriault, Muggs and Don D'Arcy and their daughter Jenifer McKinnon and her husband, and Dottie and Howie Nichols. And at the game in the '33 section were the following in addition to those mentioned above - Athena and Buster Snow, Virginia and Whit Kimball, Charline and John Scanlon, Lillian and Arch Lade, Gertrude and John Donovan, Marion and Bill Starr and their daughter and son-in-law, Eleanor and Bill Bates, Wayne Damon, Carol and Sam Gass, Dorrie and George Drowne, and in the exclusive colonnade seats, Bea and Jeff Davis. A great turnout from the Class!

The following weekend at Yale we had the pleasure of seeing the Davises and the Beatties again and Jean and Sam Black, Marcella and Bill Teahan and Peg and Ed Knapp. I'm sure there were lots of others at the game but we went down at the last minute and did not sit in the reserved section so missed whoever might have been there.

Every Tuesday we journey to Hanover and attend a luncheon at the Inn where pictures of the preceding week's game are shown and commented on by Bob Blackman. It is great to be among 150 or so very interested Dartmouth alumni and friends at this luncheon and as we meet with this group, we are more proud than ever to be in the Dartmouth family. Bill Dewey, John Meek, and Dorrie and George Drowne are regulars with us at these get-togethers. Had a nice note from Hobie Van Deusen wel-coming us to the North Country. Hobie has a farm at Wentworth, N. H„ and one day drove right by our home before he knew we were here.

Gordon Ingram's daughter, Susan, was married to David Towle on August 21 in Chichester, N. H. Both Susan and David attend the University of New Hampshire.

A few brief sketches of classmates: EdGremer I last saw at our 25th. He is manager of production control at the Kenosha plant of American Motors Corp. He and Estelle live in Kenosha, Wis. Their daughter, Gretchen, is in her junior year at DePauw, their daughter, Gail, graduated from Kemper Hall in June and is now at Wisconsin, and their son. Chuck, is a junior in high school and probably headed for Arizona University. Estelle and Ed are golf bugs and have spent their last six vacations at Palm Springs, Calif.

Pete Grace and Mary live in Webster Groves Mo., where Pete is president of the Grace Sign and _ Manufacturing Company. He has been active as president and treasurer of the Metal Sign Manufacturers' Association and is past president and currently on the executive committee of the Roadside Business Association. He has also been actave in the local Republican Club, United Jr-und, Boy Scouts, and in his church. There are seven Grace children starting with Pierre Jr. who is a senior at St. Louis University. Then Paul, a sophomore at Dartmouth. These are followed by daughters Mary Lee and Peggy, son, Stephen, and daughters Catherine and Suzanne. Pete was in Hanover for Fathers' Weekend last winter where he renewed acquaintance with WhitKimball, George Farrand, John Meek, and Ed Knapp. On a previous Hanover trip he had visited with the Manchesters and the Wrights. He also stopped in Richmand to see Bill King. He reports that lumber dealer Marty Kerwin and insuranceman Bob Terner are active with him in the St. Louis Dartmouth Club. Thanks for your nice note, Pete.

Dr. Jesse Michaelson and Ruth live in Rockville Centre, N. Y. Jesse practices ophthalmology and was president of the Long Island Ophthalmological Society. He is attending ophthalmologist at Meadowbrook Hospital, Chief of ophthalmology at Doctors' Hospital Freeport and Co-chief at Central General Hospital in Plainview. The Michaelsons have a daughter, Wendy, age 13 and a son, Clifford, age 10.

Bob and Polly Niebling are residents of Short Hills, N. J., where Bob is active in Christ Church, was president of the Racquets Club of Short Hills and is a former vice president of the Short Hills Association Council. As I reported previously, Bob is with Model, Roland & Co. where he is in charge of research. Their son, Michael, graduated Phi Bete from Williams in '62 and their daughter, Kate, graduated with the class of '64 from Montana State. Bob and Polly attended the Alumni College in Hanover last summer.

Until next month.
