MARCH 1965 G. W. GREBENSTEIN, HAROLD L. NILES

"The Wellesley Townsman" publication early in January carried a photograph of our classmate, Harold L. Niles, and a splendid write-up entitled: "Staff Honors Harold Niles with 80th Birthday Party." "Pier 4 overlooking Boston Harbor was the scene of a gala celebration, December 31, in honor of Harold L. Niles, one of Greater Boston's best known and highly respected citizens. Gathered for luncheon in the surprise tribute to Mr. Niles on the occasion of his eightieth birthday were the members of his office staff from Niles Company, Inc. of which Louville F. Niles ('35) is now president.

"A resident of Wellesley for over 60 years Mr. Niles has an impressive record of service both in the real estate profession and as a leader in a host of civic and charitable activities. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1907 and married the former Luna French of Wellesley in 1911. Niles Company, Inc., the well known Greater Boston Realtor firm, is the outgrowth of a business established nearly 60 years ago, the growth and development of which has been largely the work of Harold Niles. Four generations have been active in the organization.

"Highlighting the festive celebration was the presentation to Harold of a beautiful framed oil portrait matching in size one of his. father which has hung for many years on his office wall."

The Boston Traveler also had a story about it under "Socially Speaking" and I believe that all you classmates, will enjoy the above. Your secretary congratulates Harold in your behalf and hopes that he will live to be 90 and retain good health.

Harry and Helen Porter are enjoying retirement life at 92 North 4th Street, Old Town, Me. Keep well!

Edward Ashley, Evanston, Ill., writes that he has just recovered from three weeks' sickness, "the flu," but is now feeling much stronger. Best wishes, Ed.

Charles and Edith Richardson of 1170 Palmetto Road, Sylvan Shores, Mount Dora, Fla., will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, March 25, 1965, by taking a Caribbean cruise. We wish you both the very best of everything as always.

I have just received word that Frank McDonough Jr. died Sunday, November 29, 1964 after a long illness at Colorado Springs, Colo. See In Memoriam of this or a future issue for further information.

Classmates having birthdays during March are Rocky Hazen, 20; Arthur Spear, 23; and Alfred White, 31. We wish you all Happy and Healthy Birthdays.

As I write these class notes I have received a letter with enclosures from Bob Kenyon, our Head Agent for the 1965 Alumni Fund. I am mailing my donation slip today. You see I am always glad to receive your letters, so please write me when the spirit moves.
