This is written on a cold but beautifully bright winter's afternoon in Rochester. It is a day that gives promise of balmy ones to follow at not too long an interval — a healthy dose of vitamin C for a winter wearied body. Fortunately, for the general good of mankind, others have been more actively engaged in worthwhile pursuits than your writer, to wit:

The Class executives continue to keep the reunion pot boiling. The latest activity was a February meeting of the 25-year book committee, combining the talents of DickLippman, Jerry Tallmer, Dick Baldwin, and Ollie Quayle. Lipp is chairman, so it is relatively safe to assume that everything is under control, progressing on schedule, and that the rest of us will be receiving detailed instructions in the near future.

Bate Ewart forwarded, along with a pleasant note, word that Bob Dewey has been promoted to account supervisor in Young & Rubicam's Chicago office. Bob, Marjorie and their four children live in Palatine, Ill., a suburb of the Windy City. Bate and Bob lunch occasionally with Dick Higgins, DaveList, John Hill, Dr. Tom McElin, Bud McKinlay,Jack Roseboom, and Dan Williamson. Bate is regional sales manager of the Baumfolder Division of the Bell and Howell Company in Chicago. He has held this position since returning from the Middle East four years ago. He inquired if I still have the bike I purchased from him for $lO junior year. First of all, I'm sure it was $12. I sold it to a graduate student at the Harvard Business School for $25!

The new editorial page editor of the Denver Post is JimIdema. This is certainly a notable achievement in a demanding and challenging field. Jim joined the Post in 1960 and has been a member of the editorial page staff since 1961. Jim succeeds Mort Stern, a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University in 1955, who has been appointed assistant to the manager.

"The Back of Your Neck" was given its world premiere by the Little Theatre Group of Sanford, Me., recently. This one-act play in three scenes is the original work of ChuckHerberger, associate professor of English at Nasson College, Springvale, Me. The play is a refutation of nihilism. Chuck has a master's degree from the University of Cincinnati and a doctor of philosophy degree from Boston University. He has had numerous articles and reviews, as well as poetry, published.

Ed Millikin recently announced his candidacy for the Springfield, Vt., board of school directors. Ed is director and treasurer of Fellows Gear Shaper Co. of Springfield. Always an active and resourceful one, Ed apparently has time on his hands and is willing to take on another difficult and responsible obligation. Jim Erwin, former Maine state senator, is once again seeking elective office in that state. Jim earned his law degree at Columbia University and is a partner of Strater & Erwin. He and Charlotte-Ann have four children and reside in York Village, Maine.

It is pleasant to report the promotion of a close campus friend (most of my college comrades haven't provided much fodder for this column). Dave Warren has been appointed to the position of general sales manager of the Nash Engineering Co. of Norwalk, Conn. Dave joined Nash, a pump manufacturing firm, in 1941, and after service as a lieutenant in the Navy, returned as a sales engineer with the New York office staff. He is a Tuck-Thayer graduate and, with the help of his wife Jeannette, has four children to keep his Wilton home jumping.

Isn't it amazing how rapidly flies the time? I imagine some of our classmates are approaching forty-five. Fear not, dear ones, for with middle age doth come serenity, wisdom, and success. Hesitate not to forward your words of the penult and notification of the latter.
