As not infrequently happens, the deadline for submitting copy is just around the corner, so without frill or fanfare, this is what happened:

The Screen Producers Guild has given its "best produced TV series" award to Matthew Rapf for "Slattery's People." Approximately a thousand luminaries of the entertainment world attended the 13 th annual Milestone Awards dinner at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Hollywood, Calif., according to Variety.

The following correspondence is from the pen of John Stewart - "While a goodly number of '42s are enjoying grandparenthood, wife Marion and I are proud to announce our first child. Through the good offices of Children's Home Society of California, we have adopted a son, David Clark Stewart, born lanuary 9, 1964. He is a great joy and challenge.

"We find ourselves being crowded out of our apartment and are now househunting out in commute-ville. I am still doing my best to climb the ladder at Standard Oil Company of California. Current rung 'Foreign Crude Coordinator,' on the Corporation Supply and Distribution Staff.

"Only '42 I see often - and everyone should be seeing him often - is Bill Clark. Among all his activities he took the time to be the man in the current national ad campaign of Transamerica Corp."

It is that time when the Class goes to the starting gate to demonstrate again its solid support of the College and its continuing effort to sustain the principles which are embodied by the College. The record of the Class in Alumni Fund campaigns speaks for itself — it is without peer and is almost beyond belief. Krete points out, and he is undoubtedly correct, that the need and the opportunity are greater today than ever before. Here is a suggestion - mail those "bigger and better" checks earlier and relieve our Class Agent and his assistants of the wear and tear they have come to expect at this season of the year.

We have been notified of the recent death after a short illness of the wife of John H.Garretson Jr., the former Martha K. Gibbs, in Marshfield, Mass. The sincere sympathy of the Class is extended to John, his two sons and daughter.

State of Maine representative James Erwin spoke in Waterville recently at a luncheon meeting of the Maine Federation of Republican Women and the Kennebec County Women's Republican Club. Jim is active in a score of business and civic activities in that area. E. Burton Keirstead was a candidate for the school committee of Richmond, Mass., in February's elections - the results of which have not been forwarded to this remote locale. Burt is supervisor in the county agency of the Berkshire Life Insurance Company. He and Betty and their four children have lived in Richmond for three years.

Robert C. White has been appointed manager of Geophoto Resources Consultants of Brisbane, Australia, a subsidiary of Geophoto Services Limited, Calgary, Alberta. Bob has a master of science degree in geology from California Institute of Technology. He was previously with Standard Oil Company of California, the U. S. Geological Survey, and Occidental College. He has been with Geophoto for 14 years, serving in many foreign lands.

George A. Clark was a candidate for selectman of Carlisle, Mass., in February, results not available as yet this far west. George and Louise are parents of five children and have resided in Carlisle for 14 years. He is vice-president of Comer-Avondale Mills, Inc., of Boston. Al Britton has achieved a notable mark of success. He was recently named director of the Dartmouth National Bank of Hanover. Al is president and treasurer of the Britton Lumber Company, Inc. He has been a Norwich, Vt., resident and civic leader for 17 years.

A recent board of directors meeting atEmployers Mutuals of Wausau was something of a Big Green reunion with (l tor) directors John S. Stiles '36, Presidentof Morley Murphy Co.; William E. Buchanan 24, President of Appleton WireWorks Corp.; and Robert Faegre '38,Vice President of Boise-Cascade Corp.,along with Wausau executive DanielHagge '42.
