Gold Coast

Friday March 5 was a "green-letter" day as far as Fort Lauderdale is concerned. The occasion was the annual dinner. Once again the Gold Coast Club was joined by the Dartmouth Club of Greater Miami to make this one of the highlights of the Florida winter season. Eighty-five loyal alumni with their wives and sweethearts met at the New Sheraton Hotel here in Fort Lauderdale for cocktails and dinner.

The "piece de resistance," most ably introduced by President Walter Dingwall '54, was none other than Head Football Coach Bob Blackman, who this time accompanied with his lovely Kay, was making his second appearance before this distinguished alumni group. Bob was at his very best and gave us a most entertaining, enlightening and thorough account of Dartmouth and the Hanover scene. This is the second time that Bob's efforts in behalf of Dartmouth have been tossed at us down here in the "deep south" and to say that he was received and enjoyed as much as the first time is to put it very mildly. After his formal talk, movies of the 1964 football season were greatly enjoyed along with Bob's running comments about each game.

The Gold Coast Club enjoyed greatly joining with the Greater Miami Club for this occasion and a short cheer is due President Bob Josefsberg '59 of Miami and his committee for getting a fine group up here. Regular monthly luncheons of the Dartmouth Club of the Gold Coast are held each and every first Thursday of the month at Heilman's fine restaurant on Sunrise Boulevard here in Fort Lauderdale. Naturally any visitors to this area are always most welcome at these affairs, and incidentally any of you "local yokels" who might read this and whom we have not seen for a few meetings would be welcome too!
