The Tri-County Dartmouth Club looks forward to a very exciting year starting in September. However it may never have another year like the past one.
This year saw a 123% increase in membership, thanks to the efforts of President Dick Sameth '59 and an able board of governors. It was also a full year socially due to Mo Monahan '45 who was in charge of providing the dancing girls for all our meetings.
The dues from our growing membership made it possible for the club to carry on such worthwhile activities as the enrollment meeting for local high school students and the Glee Club concert for the benefit of our scholarship fund. These funds have been most ably managed by Skip Hetfieid '56 who has been the club treasurer for several years.
This was also the year when the most well attended meeting of the board of governors in the Club's history was held on a street corner in Plainfield because no one had a key to the building where we hold our meetings. We owe a great deal to the 1:7 men who serve on the board.
The Club paid tribute to these men and particularly to Dick Sameth '59 and KirbyTower '56, concert chairman at the annual spring dinner held at the Plainfield Country Club, May 21. William C. Quimby '42, assistant director in the Office of Financial Aid at Dartmouth, was the featured speaker.
We hope that more of the nearly 400 Dartmouth men in our area will take part in one of our activities next year.
Dean Thaddeus Seymour was the principal speaker at the Dartmouth Alumni Association of the Northwest meeting in Minneapolis. With him (l to r) are Judge JamesRogers '51, new president; Richard McFarland '51, retiring president; Miss Gertrude Jacobsen; Dean Seymour; Stuart MacPhail '40, a member of the DartmouthAlumni Council; and John Donnelly '57, secretary. Miss Jacobsen holds a silver bowlgiven to her for her work as "assistant treasurer" of the club.
