Last year at this time I opened the column by mentioning a slight quirk in California's weather system which caused a few floods, landslides, etc. in the Golden State. This little quirk is repeating itself on schedule ... exactly one year later ... floods, landslides all over again. In our latest siege, the Dalton family has lost about 25% of the house roof.. . the back yard is like a swimming pool—and we are loading the ark with that warm, dry desert as our destination. Go East, young man.

According to news from Mayor Lindsay's city, George Cox is in his second year of internal medicine residency at Manhattan Veteran's Administration Hospital. Prior to the VA residency, George spent two years with the Navy Medical Corps. George is still a member of the stubborn bachelor contingent.

Speaking of M.D.'s Dave Lewis will finish his internship at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Los Angeles in June. Upon completion Dave will plow into a residency in pediatrics at the same hospital. Paul Liederman is also on the doctor roster this month. Paul, a captain in the Army, is presently stationed at Fort Carson, Colo., where he is Chief of the Mental Hygiene Consultation Service.

On the West Coast, Jim Tankersley has entered a private practice of Pediatrics in Palo Alto, Calif. Jim, who is associated with the Palo Alto Medical Clinic, expects to join the clinical faculty at Stanford Medical School in the near future. Meanwhile, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Merwyn Bagan has begun a residency in neurosurgery. Prior to this, Merwyn spent two years as a clinical associate in neurosurgery at the National Institutes of Health. The Bagan family added a new member, Seth Charles, number two son, in October.

Cal Perry and family have established headquarters in Andover, Mass., where Cal has entered O.D. practice. Cal completed his work at Optometry College last June.

Steve Weiss' family is still expanding according to news from Steve's spouse, Sue. The toddler count is now four and the youngest - Amy —is now three years old. To put things in perspective, the Weiss' "number one child" is the '57 Class Baby — and she is now eight years old. Time marches on and we're not getting any younger.

James Bartlett Philipps became a new member of the Erv Philipps family last August. The proud papa is in his final year of Radiology residency at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston.

Phil Lippincott has been named product marketing manager for towels in the Con- sumer Products Divi- sion of Scott Paper Company. Phil, who joined Scott in 1959 as a salesman in San Francisco, moved rap- idly up to senior sales- man and sales repre- sentative before being selected by the com- pany in 1963 to attend Michigan State Uni- versity where he received an M.B.A. in food distribution. On his return to his company the next year he was named assistant project manager and later project manager in New Product Development, his most recent posi- tion.

Dick van Riper is a salesman with Anaconda American Brass in the New Haven, Conn., territory. Dick and family live in Bethany, Conn. As of Sept. 1, John Harper joined Downey Rice in a law practice in Washington, D. C.

Newlywed (as of November 6) Pete Carothers joined quite a Dartmouth clan when he married Jane McCall. Jane is the daughter of "Wild Bill" McCall, Class of '32, niece of Don McCall '28, twin sister of John McCall '63, and sister-in-law of Red Fitzsimmons '56. I'm sure your family gettogethers are very peaceful, Pete.

Bob Mac Donald is now associated with Singer Manufacturing in Auburn, N. Y. Relative newlyweds, Sandy and Eric Lee are living in Rockville, Md. Eric is a vice president at Capital City Liquor Company, which is a "booze" wholesale house located in Washington, D. C.

Dave Keith apparently is quite the busy man around Brockton, Mass. Besides his full-time occupation as manager of Keith Oil in Brockton, Dave functions as the secretary of the Campello Businessman's Association, president of the Brockton Flying Club, and as a regional coordinator for Joe Stevenson's Alumni Fund tribe. Dave married the former Patricia Houston of Bartow, Fla.

As of last October, Dick Bacon became an associate with the law firm of Arnold and Porter in Washington, D. C., after a four-and-one-half-year tour of duty with the Internal Revenue Service. Naturally, Dick's specialty is tax law. Just to update things, Dick was married to the former Rodyn Rosenberg of Wheeling, West Va., in 1963.

Through the grapevine comes news that Ron Judson "bit the dust" by joining the married ranks last November. No details were included. According to a recent news article that I received, Abbott Meader has become quite the well-known artist in New England. Abbott has shown his work widely within the state of Maine and also in museums and galleries in Colorado, New York, Michigan, and Missouri. Since 1961 Abbott has been teaching studio work at Colby College in Waterville, Me. Prior to the Colby association, he spent a year studying painting in Paris and subsequently received his M.F.A. at the University of Colorado.

On the political scene, Dick Reilly was a supervisor candidate in a Lewisboro, N. Y., election last fall. Unfortunately I didn't get the news whether Democrat Dick won or not. According to the newspaper story, Dick has been an active individual in and around Lewisboro. Among other things, Dick is active as a "Lewisboro Scoutmaster, part-time teacher in science, English and math, builder-architect of residential and light commercial buildings and paddle tennis courts." How's that leisure time, Dick?
