1919 is well represented on the so-called Gold Coast of Florida this winter and your Secretary has seen most of them. King andAlice Cole paid us a call - they are making their home in Delray now, Trudle and RedWashburn stopped by on their way back from Palm Beach, Gladys and Si Stein came up from Boca Raton for lunch, Thelma andPete Pitman from nearby Lantana were having dinner in Delray when we saw them, Don and Winifred Lovejoy are in Gulf Stream - Don still commutes to New York - Jock and Edna Murray are in Boca Raton, and the good doctor is in his customary fine form, Polly and Jim Wilson just arrived and brought good weather with them, and Guy and Muriel Cogswell are in Fort Lauderdale. According to Charlie McGoughran '2O Guy is following his favorite outdoor sport at Hialeah and Gulf Stream and, at least one day, did O.K. for both of them.
A card from Stu Russell from Scottsdale, Ariz., tells of a trip the Russells made to Mexico — the Russells may be checking in to Florida on their way East in April.
Quoting from a nice note from Jim Davis from Lakeland, Fla., "So far as I know there are no other '19ers within miles. Maybe they heard I was around here and headed for the East Coast. Mary auditions one course at Florida Southern College eachtraits year, and the rest of the time she paints porin a very fine studio furnished her by the college art department... a sort of Paul Sample of FSC. I rest, play golf (no holes in one this year), and maybe practice a little when I don't play. Have plans to play with Mad and Bunny Collins (in Sarasota) and am looking forward to it. Am sure I will see you in Hanover and we will have a go with Larmon and Russell."
Social note - Mr. and Mrs. Emmons Cobb have the honour of announcing the marriage of their daughter Carolyn to Mr. John Russell Larmon on Friday, January 21, 1966, Trinity Congregational Church, Concord, Mass.
Paula and Jim Stone are taking another cruise in April to Europe on their favorite ship the "Gripsholm" of the Swedish American Line. This time it is the Azores, Portugal, France, Holland, the Channel Islands, England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and home. Jim notes, "I am feeling fine and keeping as busy as a lazy man should." PaulHalloran, the only retired Admiral in '19 reports, "Present plans are carrying, I hope getting back on schedule for some of the Hanover treks. In the past various interferences have kept me from getting back to other '19 'fia fias' but rest assured there has been no lack of desire on my part. My days are full with continued attempts to keep up or at least approach the rapid advances in science, especially electronics. I have been active in supplying artifacts to the Seabee museum in Port Hueneme, both from W.W. II and from my endeavors in Samoa - also worked with an old friend from Samoa on a World Fair Exhibit."
Les Morse, chairman of the board of the Morse Shoe Company of Canton, Mass., was honored recently at a testimonial dinner in the Statler Hilton Hotel ballroom in Boston. The dinner, sponsored by the Shoe and Allied Industries of Kiddie Kamp, honored Les for his leadership and philanthropy. He is a former fellow of Brandeis University and is active in Jewish philanthropic organizations.
Ed and Jessie Fiske got as far south as Ormond Beach but Ed had to get back north to his curling. The Fiskes will be on hand next October when Princeton plays a return engagement with the Big Green.
Bill McMahon acknowledged receipt of his birthday card from the class with the following comment, "Mr. Sit-on-Tail better snap to, lest that squaw go to the well once too often and fail to come back. Her 'hush puppy' sandals were cute too. Hope you are having a good winter and don't forget, as I said before, that you get more for your money if you take a lot of strokes." Bill can rest assured that your Secretary takes plenty of strokes.
Harry and Lil Colwell check in via post card from Ecuador - the Colwells were enjoying a cruise through the Caribbean and the Pacific Coast of South America. March has brought in the kind of weather that we winter residents of Florida pay for and the next two months should justify the name of the Sunshine State. Come May, however, the hills of New Hampshire will look good.
