At this writing, one week before the New Hampshire primary, Paul Tsongas is confounding the professional polls with his increasing popularity in the Granite State. Despite his sobering financial views (described by one pundit as a combination of a cold shower and root canal work), Paul has parleyed detailed programs and hard work into a very interesting run at the presidency. Mike Rouzee's daughter, Stephanie '91, is an active Tsongas supporter and recently ran a New York reception for Lowell's best-known Spandex merman.

If Paul continues to be a major headache to the other Democratic candidates and Poppy Bush, it plays nicely into the hands of Al Rapoport, chief of neurology and head of the headache unit at Greenwich (Conn.) Hospital. Al estimates that 91 percent of Americans experience head throbs, and this occasionally disables some 45 million of us. Al is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is the founder and director of the New England Center for Headache. He is the author of Headache Relief and has appeared on television on ABC's "20/20," PBS's "Innovations," CNN's news coverage, and NBC's "Sunday Today." When last seen, Al was heading to Manchester, N.H., with a humanitarian relief supply of bipartisan Excedrin.

Also recently in the media: Mike Slive, commissioner of the Great Midwest Conference was interviewed about his collegiate basketball scene by Dick "Bufferin please" Vitale on national TV, and Hugh Johnson continues as a major stock market sage for the Wall Street Journal.

Back to headaches... Tom Komarek (still U.S. assistant secretary of labor and, more importantly, '62 reunion chairman) is beginning the planning for our 30th reunion in June 1993. If you have some ideas for the occasion or can volunteer services, please contact Tom at 1435 4th Street SW, Apt. 8804, Washington, DC 20024
