TRIBUTE — We are indebted to E. H. Kenerson '03 for a first-hand report on Dr.Frank Lepreau's great medical missionary work by his daughter, Mrs. Margaret Kenerson Rea of Pittsburgh. He writes that: "My daughter visited one of her bridesmaids in Haiti whose husband, Dr. Lepreau, gave up a big and successful practice in the Fall River and New Bedford, Mass., section to go out and serve in a hospital in Haiti. My classmate, Dick Brown of Fall River who died this last year, was a great admirer of Dr. Lepreau and said he was a hard-working surgeon of great skill." Mr. Kenerson enclosed a letter from his daughter who reported that:
"Frank is Medical Director of the hospital (Dr. Mellon's) while he is there for a term of 18 months. He is also a surgeon and does a lot of operating. ... Many doctors come for a month or six weeks, as Frank did twice before signing up for this permanent job. ... Hard work, dedication, long hours and a missionary spirit make this place a success. Though... it has no radio or phone communication with the outside, it is a thoroughly modern hospital and clinic that is doing a remarkable job. ... (The) hospital operates entirely on its own. It is much loved and appreciated by the people of that great valley of the Artibonite. ..." We thank Mr. Kenerson and his daughter, and we proudly salute a fine classmate and true humanitarian!

From that good and faithful New York correspondent, Hank Werner: .. Interviewed some prospective Dartmouth matriculants. One was captain of a local high school swimming team and had competed against Kay and Harry Wallace's son, Dick, who hopes to go to Dartmouth this fall. Karl Michael has his eye on Dick and so have Cornell and Colgate. He's great - in a class with Norma and Bill Gilmore's youngster, Tracey. Another boy whom we interviewed was Arnold Golding - a nephew and namesake of our deceased classmate. Young Arnold's father was Jerrold Golding of the Class of 1937. Our classmate, who died in 1947, was the son of Samuel Golding who is the head of the Sterling National Bank and a great benefactor of the college."
EN GA GEMENT - Barbara and StanSmoyer's boy, David, engaged to Mary E. Howland of Marion, Mass. David is in his final year at Harvard Law School after a great athletic career at Dartmouth.
