As this is written the Sarasota "winter season" is in full swing, augmented by the happy influx of friends from the North. The Dartmouth Club, under the leadership of President Jim Bonnyman '38, is doing its full share of keeping things rolling.
On January 20 58 green tribesmen, their ladies, and guests turned out for a dinner meeting in the rooftop Terrace Room of the Sarasota Motor Hotel (Art Allyn '32, prop.). Movies of all the principal plays of the 1965 football season were enjoyed.
On February 11, another dinner meeting was attended by 63, at the same place. Featured speaker was Professor James Cusick, the dean of the "Alumni College" seminars held at Hanover in August of the last two years. Four of our members - Roger Brown'05, Gil Swett '17, Bob Hardy '25, and JimBonnyman '38 - with their wives, were enrolled as students in previous years, and at least three others are "going back to college" next August to get their brains dusted off.
On March 8 a special luncheon is being planned (as this is written) under the sponsorship of a group of seven or eight men of the classes 1904-1908 who for many years past have vacationed together during the winter season on Anna Maria Key - on the Gulf Coast about 15 miles north of Sarasota. Under the leadership of Bob and Lura Kenyon '07 the group has arranged to have the luncheon at Reynaud's Yacht Club Restaurant, on the key. Guest speaker will be Dr. John Elmendorf, president of Sarasota's recently established "New College." Two of our regular members - Sumner Emerson'17 and George Collins '35a — are on its Board of Trustees.
Our final meeting of the season will be held on Monday evening, April 11 - once again at Art Allyn's rooftop Terrace Room. The Happy Hour starts at 6:30 followed by dinner and a showing of a half-hour film devoted entirely to the Princeton Game. Dress informal and ladies especially invited.
