Of the many tributes to our late Class President, Phil Thompson, probably none is more touching than the one sent by Cyril A. Smith, now a lonely old man, with no member of his immediate family still living. He remembers himself as a lonely young freshman, arriving in Hanover in the fall of 1898, not knowing a soul, and there being greeted by a warm handshake and cordial welcome by Phil Thompson, the first one to introduce him to the fellowship of 1902. Yes, that was so characteristic of you, Phil, and we will never forget it, as we try to comfort those who are left.
Another lonely soul writes from California, as he informs us that he hopes to attend the reunion in 1967, but if he comes, it will have to be by himself. He is C. W.Davis, as he writes of the death of his wife, Ada, on March 25, 1966. She had recovered completely from a series of heart attacks before our 60th, but will now not be able to make our 65th. We feel for you, "Soap," as we remember our own sorrows.
Col. J. Frank Drake wishes it to be known that he has given up his apartment in Pittsburgh and is now living at 37 Main St., Pittsfield, N. H. 03263. Of no one else can it be said with greater truth, "A famous old New Englander returns home." Welcome back, "Duckie"!
