While discarding old papers I noted a collection of letters written by appreciative alumni in 1943 to St. Johnsbury Academy for its 100th anniversary celebration.

Samuel W. Robertson wrote: "In my own class of 1879 there were 36 in the graduating list. Of these there were 20 boys and 16 girls. Twenty-three were "out of town" members. Thirteen of us entered Dartmouth, still a record, I think. Other colleges claimed four more. In college first and second places Were held by our delegation, and all of us had prominent places in college activities."

Frank E. Brackett 1883 wrote: "In 1886—87 I was proud to be called back from Dartmouth to teach Algebra."

Edwin G. Grover 1890 wrote: "I am most grateful to ... Mr. Kakin who flunked me in Latin and made me study all summer in order to get into Dartmouth."

Walter S. Adams 1892 wrote: "The preparation I received at St. Johnsbury Academy was the chief reason why I took four years of Greek and three of Latin at Dartmouth."
