A late report tells of the death of WilliamThompson Atwood at his home, 50 Bryn Mawr Ave., Lansdowne, Pa., on May 25, 1967. Another loyal son of Dartmouth will be remembered in the In Memoriam section of this issue or a later one.

Mrs. Mabel L. Avery, widow of Philip, passed away at the Belmar Home, Peter- borough, N. H., where she had been a patient for some years due to being crippled with arthritis. Her daughter, Joan Bixby, is reported to be a house mother at the Garland School in Boston.

Gordon and Grace Weinz spent a few days on Cape Cod in late summer. Grace recovering from a cataract operation performed in June was fitted to her new glasses when they returned home. Gordon and BertFrench made a short visit to Curly andSarah Blake at their South Yarmouth home. It was pleasant to listen to Curly and Gordon reminisce.

Clifford A. Blake "Curly," our second oldest member, suffered a stroke on September 21 as he was preparing to attend a retired men's club meeting. He has been confined to the Cape Cod Hospital but get well wishes should be sent to his home, 84 Pond St., South Yarmouth, Mass. 02664.

Dean Francis H. Bird spent several weeks this summer in California visiting daughter Harriet and children. They took "Tubby" on a tour of San Francisco during which he took pictures from the car of the hippies and their friends which will be shown at the next reunion.

Kenneth E. Root, "Nut," writes from Chicago that he has been somewhat "out of circulation" of late due to a couple of not too pleasant hospital stays and leg trouble. He hopes to be well enough to make the 60th.

Chester and Martha Brett spent a couple of weeks last month at the Hanover Inn to enjoy the fall foliage and take in a couple of football games.

Edward D. Rich was married to Edith Foster Moore his childhood sweetheart in New York City on December 8, 1911 and the Class congratulates them and wishes them many more years of happiness as they celebrate their 56th anniversary next month. Their home is at 1273 Cook, Denver, Colo. 80206.

Josephine Ford, widow of Ned, has completed another busy season as one of the hostesses at the historic Winslow House, corner of Careswell and Webster Streets, Marshfield, Mass. This project and the preservation of the old schoolhouse on the other corner were two of Ned's hobbies. If you have not visited them plan to do so next season.

Birthday greetings go this month to John F. Glynn (4), Frank S. Austin (6), Albert W. Bates (7), Herbert M. Walker (7), James Hitchcock (12), Ernest C. Whitney (17), and Asher A. Clement (27). Bates, Hitchcock and Whitney join 'o9's growing list of octogenarians.
