NOVEMBER 1967 ALBERT C. JONES '66

We would like to express our gratitude, and that of the entire Dartmouth College Athletic Council, alumni and friends of the College, to the Dartmouth Class of 1939 for their presentation of the fine new electric football scoreboard located at the north end of Memorial Field. The scoreboard was officially dedi- cated just before the 1967 Ivy League season opened with the Penn game, October 14. The Class of 1939 held an informal fall reunion to mark the event.

Dartmouth has several sophomores who have proven talent already in '67. QB Bill Koenig and right halfback Bob Mlakar were named "Sophomore of the Week" in the ECAC in two consecutive weeks; Bill for his picture-perfect TD pass to Mlakar in the UMass game, and Bob for his outstanding offensive display against Holy Cross the next Saturday. Against Penn, defensive back Bruce Saylor was named "outstanding soph of the game" for his effective defense against Penn's talented passer, Bill Creeden.

Bob Mlakar reported late for fall football practice fresh from the end of a busy summer of Cape Cod baseball, so was late in hitting his stride on the gridiron. Last spring Bob batted .273 at shortstop on the 12-0 freshman baseball squad. Coach Blackman hopefully compared Bob's running to that of Tom Spangenberg '64, who was a key figure on the "62" team. It looks as though no one is going to be disappointed this fall.
