Are you finalizing plans for the Big Tenth? If not, here is a reminder that time is drawing short. There are approximately 75 days left until the big weekend in Hanover. A great deal of planning is going into this reunion; thus your participation will be most welcome. For those of you still fence-sitting in your decision, get off the dime. This is going to be a Reunion that will be a oncein-a-lifetime occasion.
The mailbag is full of many news items this month... so down to business. JackHall has been named manager of marketing services at the Chicopee Manufacturing Company's Non-Woven Fabrics Division in Milltown, N. J. Jack joined Chicopee, the textile affiliate of Johnson & Johnson, in 1963 when he was appointed supervisor of research planning. Jack and spouse Arlene have one son and reside in Springfield, N. J.
From Germany comes news that Jim Lawrence and family are now living in Dusseldorf. Jim was appointed manager of Du Pont's data processing activities in Germany. The tour in Germany should last about three years. Incidentally, Jim hopes to be on hand at the Reunion in June.
John Hodgson is in the midst of his last year of Residency Training in Aerospace Medicine. He is presently assigned for a one-year period as a Flight Surgeon at the NASA Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston under the preceptorship of Dr. Charles Benz. John and his wife Harriet have two daughters, Helen and Amy. During the past four years, the Hodgson clan has been an a-go-go family, having moved five times during this period.
Another M.D., Bill Gallagher is presently serving as a teaching fellow in dermatology at Massachusetts General Hospital. By this July, Bill hopes to be in private practice; however, he intends to continue to teach at
Wedding Bells: Last December BobFrench and Shirley Anne Zimmerman of Boston were married. Shirley attended the University of New Hampshire and is a graduate of Faulkner Hospital School of Dental Technology. The newlyweds are living in Boston.
On the first of this month Ann Switzer and Bill Edgerton departed the spinster and bachelor ranks. Ann attended Hollins College and the Katharine Gibbs School in Boston. She is presently associated with 1.B.M. in New York. Bill is manager of cost services for the F. W. Dodge Co., a division of McGraw-Hill Inc. in New York. Prior to his present business association, Bill attended the Graduate School of Architecture and Business Administration at Harvard.
Effective last February 1, Al Dessoff was appointed to Senator Daniel Brewster's (D.-Md.) Capitol Hill staff. Al's official title is Executive Assistant to the Senator. Al's assignments include the duties of press secretary and assistant in the development of policy positions and programs. Prior to this appointment, Al was a member of the news staff of the "Washington Post" for eight years. Since 1964, he had been a writer and columnist in the area of Maryland government and politics. In 1963 Al received an award for distinguished reporting of public affairs from the American Political Science Association. Al and his wife have two daughters, Regina and Victoria.
Our class president Tom Schwarz has been elected a vice president of Compton Advertising, Inc., Tom is supervisor on several of the agency's package goods accounts. He joined Compton in 1960. Tom also bears the title of president of the Alumni Club of Westchester and of Christmas for Underprivileged Children, Inc., which he co-founded. Shirley and Tom and their two children live in Hartsdale, N. Y.
Good news from Denver: Don Burkhardt has become a partner in the law firm of Grant, Shefroth, Toll and McHendric. Away from the office, Don, his wife Gail and offspring Susan 6, and Steve 4, have been taking advantage of the nearby ski slopes. Getting Steve ready for the Dartmouth Ski Team in 1981, Don?
And speaking of Colorado skiing, Dr.Paul Liederman has become quite the avid skier according to his wife Veronica. Paul, who is a captain in the Army and Division Psychiatrist at Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, has both Vail and Aspen nearby where he works out on the Heads. This July Paul will start a one-year research project in Geropsychiatry at Duke University. For this project Paul has received a special fellowship grant from the National Institute of Mental Health. Subsequent to this project Paul and family will move bag and baggage back to Los Angeles where Paul will establish a private practice.
Mike and Elaine Lasser have been living in Rochester, N. Y., since last August. Mike is chairman of the English Department at the Harley School in Rochester. Prior to assuming his new position, Mike was a member of the teaching staff at Rutgers Preparatory School in New Jersey for seven years. Mike related that he had seen Bob Crumrine in Rochester. According to Mike, Bob is on the staff at Strong Memorial Hospital which is the University of Rochester's medical center. Mike also has had recent contact with Garvey Clarke who is Director of Development for the Independent School Talent Search, one of the sponsoring agents of the ABC Project at Dartmouth and elsewhere. Incidentally, the Lasser family now includes two children. Keep up the good work in the Rochester area, Mike.
Toddler: On February 7, Eric Knight Johnson became number one son in the Beaand Art Johnson family. According to good sources, Big Daddy Art has settled into the role of the devoted father after a few days of celebrating Eric's arrival.
