Two '17'ers recently have been confined to hospitals where both underwent similar operations. Norm McCulloch was in a hospital in Providence, R. 1., and Sumner was confined to a hospital in Sarasota, Fla. Norm returned to his home in Barrington, R. I., on February 27 and when I talked with Mary by phone, she reported that Norm was doing nicely. On the evening of February 28, I phoned Sarasota and who should answer the phone but Sumner. He said that he had been home from the hospital for about a month and was doing nicely. But both men seemed to be very .glad to get back to their homes! I am sure that all '17'ers will wish them a rapid recovery from the after effects of their operations!

While talking with Sumner he mentioned the fact that Duke and Dot Howe were in town. The next morning I received word from Gil Swett that, "Jane and I were dinner guests of Duke and Dot Howe last night at the Azure Tides' "Viking Room' - a most happy evening, replete with reminiscence and fun. We closed up the joint!"

In the same mail came a note from GeneTowler. He enclosed a letter from Carp(Irving T.) Atwater in which Carp said, "I have a charming wife, one dandy daughter and two sons. The older, a CPA with Henry Kaiser here, the other lad is a Chief Petty Officer presently very busy in Vietnam - which we do not care for. I am in the wholesale Mine & Mill Supply business, and our principal contacts are sawmills, lead, zinc and silver mines in North Idaho, and industrials of all types." Carp ended his letter by saying, "You can advise any interested '17'ers that I'm still around and would like to see anyone passing by. Sumner Emerson was the last - about twenty years ago. He was here on some bank deal and I enjoyed visiting with him."

Gil Swett should have been a publicity agent because in his letter concerning his meeting with the Howes, he adds the following interesting comments, "Tonight is Bob Blackman Night. So far 90 reservations with a probability of hitting an attendence of 110 or 120." He goes on to say that, "Coming up on March 26 is a repeat visit of the Glee Club. Three years ago, on their first invasion of the deep South, they were a smash hit—very prestigious for the College.

Another '17'er and his wife, Don anaMarion O'Leary, from way up in Maine, have gotten way down south to Florida. When last heard from they had been at Bradenton for a week or more and on March l were to leave for Sarasota where they will be until April 15.

According to his daughter, Doug Fleming has been an invalid for a number of years and is completely helpless now but is in excellent spirits. How about dropping Doug a line or two? It probably would give him a big lift!

George "Merry" Brill reports that last October he was listed for the first time in Who's Who in the East. Then, later that month he and Hazel were elected Honorary Members of Alpha Omega Alpha, international Honor Medical Society at a special meeting of the Board of that Society. The Brills have served the Society for over 36

Bob and Gail Boynton took off from Hanover about the middle of February and are now at Lakeside Inn in Mt. Dora, Fla. If any of you are in the vicinity be sure to look them up.

Bill Eaton recently was in Mary Hitchcock for a spell. He was hit by the flu and had a very slight stroke. He is at home now but not allowed to drive a car and is taking life very easy. If any of you get to Hanover, try to look Bill up or at least give him a phone call.

Now to get back to our fall party for a moment. I find that we can get a bus to drive us to the Princeton game at Hanover for a very modest amount. One bus holds 41 persons and another 11 persons. If any of you are interested in going to the game by chartered bus, won't you drop me a line and say so so that I can make the necessary arrangements before someone else signs them up. We might even get the Inn to put up box lunches for those going to the game by bus. So let me know what your wishes are and I'll do the rest. And if you have any bright ideas for entertainment for either Friday or Saturday evenings, by all means let me know. We want to please everybody if we can.

Keep your eyes open for Sherm and HelenSmith. They are somewhere in Florida but no one seems to know just where! Late flash! They are staying with Col. Arthur W. Nelson, 151 Overlook Road in Winter Park.
