Dean Thad Seymour, spoke to a tremendous crowd of members of the Dartmouth Association of the Great Divide at their annual meeting on March 15, 1968, held at the Denver Country Club. Through him we received insights on problems ranging from the use of drugs by students, intense political involvement, and the civil rights movement as it is being lived in Hanover.

President Donald McMichael '53 spoke for about an hour and one-half before Dean Seymour got his chance. As usual, Don didn't say anything but it was thoroughly entertaining. One of the prime functions at every annual meeting is to elect the officers for the following year and they were in fact elected by unanimous acclaim and included the following: President: Donald E. McMichael '53; vice president: Edward M. Hunter '55; secretary: Everett H. Parker '16; treasurer: John R. Shaddock '53; assistant secretary: Robert O. Halbert '59; trustee, Group C (over 20 years out): Donald W.Jones '43.

Hart D. Gilchrist '31 chaired the nominating committee. Jim Swanson '59 was honored for his three years' devotion to the enrollment cause, after which he took his lovely wife to Hawaii for a well deserved rest.

At the last luncheon of the club, which is held the fourth Friday of every month, during the winter, at the University Club, Dr. Jack Jacobey '51 gave a fascinating talk on heart surgery. His remarks were illustrated by slides which showed repairs to worn arteries, valve replacement, and transplants. Drs. Cal Fisher '32 and SeymourWheelock '40 understood everything and didn't ask any embarrassing questions, the rest of us looked and listened in wonderment. Dr. Jack has been asked for a repeat performance so those who missed it can have their first glimpse of the interior of the heart, and those who saw the first show a review.

We are happy to welcome Derrill deSTrenholm Jr. '40, son of Trenny '17, the hurdler.

Honoring Trustee Dudley W. Orr '29 at a Dartmouth dinner in Caracas, Venezuela, were, from left: Andre Guilliano '54, DanSearoy 57, Ken Walker '61, Jose Demori '56, Mr. Orr, Bob Bottome '30 (the host), and Fred Eaton 40.
