Lloyd Brace '25 Honored
JUNE 1968

Lloyd D. Brace '25, Chairman of the Dartmouth Board of Trustees, was honored last month by the Harvard Business School Association of Boston at the annual dinner awarding the Association's Business Statesman Award.

His citation said in part, "Lloyd Brace is an exemplary recipient. He has just completed 20 years of leadership at the First National Bank of Bos ton, serving as President from 1947 to 1959, then Chairman of the Board to 1966, and finally Chairman of the Executive Committee. During this period, Mr. Brace's quiet modesty, strength, and breadth of ability and vision have won him the esteem of bankers, businessmen and educators throughout the country."

President Dickey amplified this description of the award winner in a letter to Association President Charles H. Hood '51 which said, .. you do the concept of business statesmanship proud by recognizing a man who is known across the land not merely for his prowess as a banker but also for his willingness and ability to bring that prowess to the service of the great causes of education, health and the charitable spirit of American society. Dartmouth is only one of many nonprofit enterprises that are head over heels in debt to Lloyd Brace - and at a very reasonable rate of interest!"
