This has to be filed before the Penn game weekend and Bonnie Oaks reunion, so look to the Class Letter where Butts Lamson will fill you in on events. I can report the following, as Margaret and I drove up to check the registration at Bonnie Oaks - and also to see the wonderful foliage display this year: pleasantly surprised to have a luncheon meeting with Charlie French, HarryHolmlund, Alton Tupper (in town for a check-up on operation for back trouble, as reported earlier) and to pick up a few bits of class news. One especially good item is that Dave Dyche, having retired from a world of Chemistry (drugs, pharmaceuticals, resins... see page 70 of the 40-year book) and from Rye, N.Y., has bought a Shangri La up on the highlands overlooking Bradford, Vt. - a bit south of Putty-and-CbarlotieBlodgett's equally wonderful home looking into New Hampshire across the river. Haven't seen the Dyches nor their home as yet, but am sure several of the class will do so.

The Blodgetts were home when Margaret and I called; very glad to see Charlotte in better health than had been reported, needing only elbow crutches to help when outdoors because of an old hip injury plus more recent arthritis there. Put this in your book for reunion come June: make a point of seeing their lovely home and the amazing exhibits of early Americana they have arranged in excellent displays. You'll be welcomed, and also thrilled at what you will see there. In addition to Brad and Lois Hersey's interest in this same hobby-interest, Dana and Gretchen Bent have recently become excited with this new interest. All six of these will be at the summer reunion to tell you more. I understand Dana found an important book going back to the Pilgrim founders and Governor Bradford, and saw it was placed in the proper historical collections for maximum enjoyment of the most people.

From our West coast: Bob Macaulay andFlorence, whom we saw when we were in Hawaii en route to our Korean stint, writes a cryptic note to say "Right now both of us are totally engaged in operating a 10-story spanking new family venture in an apartment until such time when it can be well established." One day- we'll have some details . . . where, what, why??? Also received word from Red Newell, who lives in Berkeley, Calif., but avoids the hippie areas - except to go in for some library books. Reading is one of his major pleasures for these past three years of retirement. (Ought to have some friends see he gets into San Francisco and class meetings oftener, seems to me and I think he'd agree.) In June Ralph Jr., one of his two children, "added a second grandchild to the clan" . .. which will interest more than you think, Red, for we're all in the same adding-grandchildren era.

From the Boston arena (where we hear the hippies from Berkeley have migrated!), Ralph Stuart still carries on in the insurance business he has owned since 1928. His relaxation is riding in Andover at the Andover Riding Club. His wife, Madeline, and he see Norm and Claire Everett quite often - (down on the Cape, West Barnstable). Bob Doe, whose son Bill '50, I had as a student in class, is a lawyer in Wilbraham. Doris has been seriously sick for the past five years, as many have known. Bill is now a banker in Philadelphia but has a summer place nearby in Tolland; Jessica and her family visited from Oklahoma this summer. Another "tie" between us is an interest in philately (stamp collecting), along with several others in the class including Win Sturtevant, Harriet Nilsen, Mary Higley, and Robin Robinson ... to name some whose names come to mind at the moment.

Regret not to have Bevo and Quecha Beers here with us at the reunion; also the Jim Rutherfords (now in a new apartment in Majorca).
