Alden (Whitey) Burnham, Dartmouth's coach of soccer and lacrosse since 1960, has been named Assistant Director of Athletics, succeeding Mike Slive '62 who is leaving the Dartmouth athletic complex to practice law.
Burnham, a 1948 graduate of Spring-field College, succeeded the late Tom Dent at Dartmouth following 12 years as coach of soccer, lacrosse, and wrestling at the University of Delaware. He coached wrestling at Dartmouth until 1966.
Reflecting on Burnham's experience as a coach and athletic administrator (he is a past president of regional and national coaching organizations in soccer, lacrosse and wrestling), Director of Athletics Seaver Peters said, "Whitey will be a valuable addition to the DCAC administrative staff. He has a wealth of knowledge of the intercollegiate, intramural, and physical-education phases of athletics."
