In freshman soccer, the Little Indians posted a 4-2-2 record under Coach Grant Standbrook as Jim Metzler, a forward converted to goalie, gained a shutout over Harvard (snapping a string of 27 Crimson frosh wins). Rob Barr, a fullback from Walpole, Mass., is the frosh soccer captain.
Dartmouth's freshman cross-country team nearly matched the varsity record with a 5-1 season. Tom Shiland, from Cambridge, N. Y., the captain, was superb for the Little Indians as he won every dual race except against Harvard and then took first place in the Columbia Invitational meet. He was sixth in the IC4A freshman meet as the Little Indians showed definite signs of providing the varsity with some valuable strength.
