In the fall of last year the executive committee created a new post, class social chairman. John Blades has graciously accepted the job. He will plan and coordinate class social activities, working with the president, the executive committee and various members of the class interested in promoting class gatherings throughout the country. The recent growth and success of class gatherings led to the creation of this important job. It is expected that there will be three or four events in the northeast annually in addition to gatherings in Chicago and San Francisco. John will need help with regional affairs and any group interested in promoting a social event is urged to contact him at 122 East 42nd Street, New York, N. Y. 10017.

Plans are already afoot for this fall. Circle October 11 on your calendar (Penn game in Hanover). We tentatively have a place for dinner and two motels. Also, circle November 8 (Columbia game in New York). Bob Sproull has consented to furnish the Red Onion for post-game festivities. Looking to 1970, John says he's booking Buenos Aires and Rio - All Aboard!!

A note from Rabbi Bob Schreibman brings word that he has been in New York for three years, the longest he has been anywhere, at Temple Beth Sholom. He is quite active in local activities and was just elected to the Executive Board of the New York Association of Reform Rabbis. The Schreibmans had their third child in November, Tamar Ann. The present score is two girls, one boy.

The friends of Bob Gebhardt have established a memorial fund at Dartmouth in memory of "a unique friend. . . .The fun" is intended to serve three purposes. ,

1. To establish a trophy award to be given to the sophomore, junior, or senior member of the ski team who has continually demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, loyalty to Dartmouth and the team, and hard work - both in skiing and in academics. Each time the award is given the recipient will receive a memento along with his name inscribed on the trophy. A letter describing the recipient will be written by the roach to Mrs. Robert C. Gebhardt.

2. To provide occasional financial aid to those individuals on the ski team who qualify for financial aid and who in the judgment of the Office of Financial Aid require additional funds to enable them to participate in regional or national competitive events, i.e., Nationals, Olympic tryouts, etc.

3. To provide financial aid to the ski team to enable the team to participate in competitive events not budgeted by the College.

The scope of the program will be largely determined by the size of the fund - for this is to be a perpetuating memorial without depletion of capital. Members of the Class wishing to contribute to this memorial should make checks payable to Robert C. Gebhardt Memorial Fund and send it to the Treasurer's Office, Dartmouth College, Hanover, N. H.

In New York City, Harvey I. Epstein has been named president of the Dreyfus Sales Corporation and also elected to the board of directors of the Dreyfus Corporation, the underwriter and distributor of the Dreyfus Fund. He began his service with the corporation in 1958 and served five years as regional sales manager in the New York area. Since then he had held the position of vice president - marketing of the Dreyfus Sales Corporation.

President Nixon has appointed Dr. Martin Anderson, a Columbia University professor, as a special assistant to deal primarily with domestic matters. Marty is a city affairs expert and author of a book entitled, "The Federal Bulldozer," on urban renewal.

The Theological School of Drew University in Madison, N. J., has named Dr. BruceBarrabee Director of Field Education and assistant professor of Pastoral Theology. Bruce was a Methodist minister seven years in lowa, and served as district director of the South lowa Conference Board of Christian Social Concerns and as a member of the Des Moines Ministers' Urban Planning Committee.

Our key Hanover liaison, Dave Orr, has been named general chairman for the 16th annual Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl Game to be played in Hanover next August 16. Dave has appointed six assistant chairmen to help him work with the several hundred Shriners who will be actively involved in the game, sponsored by Bektash Temple of Concord, N. H., of which Dave is a member, Mt. Sinai of Montpelier, and Cairo Temple of Rutland. In its first 15 years over $225,000 has been raised for the Shriners' Hospitals for Crippled Children and for the Burns Institute in Boston.

As we approach the next three months Skip Kerr is very enthusiastic about the Alumni Fund. The continuous support of the fund by the class is vital to the college. As you may know, the "Blitz" is on again and Skip urges all to make their gifts, if possible, in the first week of the campaign. No class from Dartmouth has ever had 600 contributors from a single class. We have the ability to accomplish this and the "Blitz" can give us a big jump. It can be done!
