It's reassuring to know that the first crop of sixty-six lawyers will be leaving the ivycovered walls this month and embarking on their personal crusades. Our congratulations to all.
One young attorney relocating is SteveSloca who graduated from Yale and will be working for Irell & Manella in Los Angeles. Tom Lips also has graduated from Yale Law and will now enter the Army as a second lieutenant.
Steve Nash, working for his Ph.D. in Art History at Stanford, plans to be married in Rome, N. Y., on June 15 to Carol Ostrowski, a 1966 graduate of Green Mountain. They'll honeymoon and study, occasionally, in France and then return to Stanford.
And here's something we really enjoy, catching up on the travels of an old classmate. Andy Curtis went back to Cleveland after graduation and married Jean Dickey Hutton of Shaker Heights, daughter of Al Hutton '41. Andy's dad, Frank Curtis '36, is also a member of the tribe, and classmates Kit Stenger and John Garrison, now a lieutenant and an Army intelligence officer in Thailand, were in the wedding.
Andy and Jean entered the Air Force in March, 1967, went through a six-month Aerospace Munitions School and while stationed at Charleston AFB a son, Andrew, was born on March 27, 1968. Andy is now in Iceland. First Lt. Curtis is with the 57th Fighter Interceptor Squadron and his family is with him in Keflavik, Iceland. His good friend, Lt. Don Ries, a munitions officer, is on his way to a warmer clime, Ubon AFB in Thailand.
It's a pleasure to quickly note where our '66 warriors are dispersed around the globe. Lt. Clayton McEachron is an Air Force pilot trainee. Mike Ransmeier is attending Spanish Language School in Washington, D. C., for the U.S. Army. Richard Tufarois serving two years with the ordnance branch for the Army. Stan Colla is serving as a site engineer in the Army Air Defense Command at a Nike base in the Norfolk area.
In Vietnam, Lt. j.g. Dave Nicholas is part of a Navy Seal Team engaged in small unit operations against VC. Pete Barber is with the infantry in Quang Tri province. TimJones is a naval flight officer flying out of Da Nang and Greg Eden is a pilot flying the A-6 Intruder aboard the carrier "America." George Reese is stationed with the Coast Guard in Cat Lo, Vietnam. Jamie Stewart is the weapons officer and Mark Blanchard is in the engineering department aboard the destroyer escort "USS Finch," which is based in Guam and divides its patrol between Vietnam and the Taiwan Patrol. Jim Jourdonnais is an infantry platoon leader with the 1st Air Cavalry.
Our prayers and wishes for a speedy and safe return extend to these men and the many others fighting for our nation.
