34 Nick Xanthaky was recently lauded for his longtime contribution as a Iteacher of economics and business at Salem State College prior to his 1977 retirement, and in continuing-education prohrams grams since then. All '34s who take seniorcitizen courses, as I do in Hanover, appreciate the value of experienced teachers continuing to share their talents.
Speaking of being highly respected in a profession, it's hard to top William S.Emerson. Bill is listed in the first edition of Marquis's Who's Who in Science and Engineering, in addition to his two other Who's Who listings: In the World and In Finance and Industry.
Karl and Kitty Weber are now settled in their new Chapel Hill home and appreciate what it takes to handle such a move. It'll be a longer drive, but they plan to attend our mini.
Stan Silverman, now officially a Florida resident, was recently back in New York City working on TV and movie projects. Keep alert to the credit lines when you have your sets on. Stan still believes his Florida address is Lake Clarke Shores even though the P.O. now wants to tag it West Palm Beach (same zip).
The '34 widows are such a valued part of our family. Sarah Slechta writes that Joe's strong feelings toward Dartmouth have been passed along to her. Kay Belknap is now keeping up with nine grandchildren and the memory books. She wrote that Pret had been praised as a wonderful man by the ex-governor of Vermont.
Gardner Brown still enjoys hitting the golf ball, but he admits it's now more practice than tournament. He and Susan are content with their move to Homosassa, Fla., after their many years in Vermont and Maine.
David Hill must have had a special interest in the Rio Conference. He says that in his nearby California woods the spotted owl is battling the lumber companies for the virgin forest, and salmon are losing out in their spawning streams. Wherever you are, have a fine autumn!
