This seems to be the month for 57's to become presidents of companies in Palo Alto. Dave Roush has been elevated from senior vice-president to president of the O.N.C. Motor Freight System. In thirteen years O.N.C. has grown from serving only Oregon, Nevada, and California to become the largest common carrier operating entirely in the West, covering more than 2000 miles between New Mexico and British Columbia. The company has established itself among the leaders of modern transportation management through advanced handling facilities and development of its unique IBM 360 billing and processing installation. In his years with 0.N.C., Dave has participated in practically every phase of freight terminal operation, fleet procurement, and maintenance and most of the varied functional responsibilities in freight system administration. For the past year and a half he has held the position of total operations control. Under his direction, ONC's equipment fleet was expanded almost 25% to 2635 modern high production units, and its award-winning maintenance program and facilities have become rated among the finest in the nation.

In January, Bradford Junior College was the site of a one-man art show in which Mike King exhibited 12 major paintings. Mike, who is chairman of the art department at Brooks School, is displaying several new works done while he was on sabbatical leave last year in Rome. He says the new paintings reflect the movement and vitality of Baroque Italy. Also on display are some of Mike's works which are on loan from various lenders. His favorite subject: young people. "Pop" colors and a kind of "pop" approach are frequent in his works which are generally described as "refreshing." There is within them a spirit of the basic elements of today's youth: a tendency to rebellion - sometimes hostility - and the identity search. He has been described by a Boston art critic as "one of the more talented youthful artists."
