As this is written, Form 1040 (with schedules bedecked) awaits. As you read this, Form 1040 (with check attached) will be long gone. About the only pleasurable element of the whole taxing process is the realization that money given to Dartmouth is (1) deductible and (2) more productive than any other item on Schedule A. And certainly a lot more productive than the cash the District Director gets his mitts on which is where it goes unless we foil him by sending it to Hanover instead. The foregoing is an unpaid non-political but urgent plug on behalf of '53's own Mr. Right Guard, Fred Stephens (see above). So to avoid offense, send your gold and silver up to the Alumni Fund office now! Mona!!

What Christmas is to Saks, April 15 is to public accountants. So if you see CPA Bob Lynah wandering around Wellesley Hills, green eye-shade askew and looking like he just finished third in the Marathon, send him home to Kathy and the girls (Mary, 11; Betsy, 9; and Suzanne, 5) at 15 Alba Road, their new address. The Lynahs moved from Waltham right after Christmas and Bob finds it a quicker shot to Framingham, where he maintains his public accounting firm. That may be just an excuse, however, since the move occurred shortly after Warren and Joan Cassidy, Owen and Ann Cote, and Bob and Cathy celebrated with vigor Warren's election as mayor of Lynn. It appears Warren's perpetual tenure is assured since (a) Joan and he recently celebrated the arrival of the fifth Cassidy (Butch?) and (b) Congress seems bent on lowering the voting age.

Earlier we announced a class poetry competition on the subject of girl undergraduates at Hanover. There has been a dearth of entrants, but nothing daunted, here's a new contest limited to those classmates residing west of the Mississippi Valley: From memory, sketch a quick map of Boston and environs, showing the location of each of the towns mentioned in the preceding paragraph. Extra points for showing major MTA stations.

In New York City George Davies has been elected to the board of directors of National Securities & Research Corporation. He is vice-president and general counsel of the firm, which sponsors the National Securities Series of mutual funds and the Fairfield Fund with combined assets of over $8OO million. before joining National in 1967, George had been associated with Hughes Hubbard & Reed, attorneys. He received his law degree from Harvard.

The mail (which wasn't running well at the time, the National Guard then being in charge) brought a spectacular birth announcement from Portland, Ore. Blue and pink ribbons heralded the arrival on March 4 of Brooks Gamble (blue) and Hillary Alexandra (pink). Writes proud Pop, Blake Hering: "I thought I would set an example for my classmates — another child (number five) prior to turning forty. Little did I know that I was improving with age and would produce numbers five and six! There can be no doubt in anyone's mind that I'm doing my part to produce workers who hopefully will raise the flag and stand by Dutch and me in our old age, but I need your cooperation too - get the market up so that I can pay for these little additions. Best regards to all."

From Atherton, Calif., comes this happy news from Sid Widrow: "Chalk up another for '53's decreasing number of bachelors. I was married to Dr. Bernice M. S. Barnett, graduate of the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, University of London, on March 3 at Kailua, Oahu. Charlie Stratton '55 was the best man. After a honeymoon on the outer Hawaiian islands, we returned to California to resume our work in artincial kidneys." Those classmates who wish to inquire about the availability of artificial Kidneys to remedy the after-effects of too many of Trader Vic's Hawaiian libations may contact Sid and Bernice at 12 Tuscaloosa Avenue.

At Westover Air Force Base, Mass., Lt. Col. Drew C. Sleeper '52 (c), Commander,348th Bomb Squadron, serving as host, welcomes visiting Gen. John C. Meyer '41(r), Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force. Completing the Dartmouth trio is Maj.Bruce R. Gardener '55, Aircraft Commander of the 348th Squadron.
