As a new year opens in Hanover, so again comes the editor's call for news of the doings of classmates, wives and families of 1914.

Again, as for nearly four years, I roam distant horizons looking for letters, phone calls, helios, or smoke signals, all in the hope of hearing from you.

The long summer brought changes in our ranks and in one of our important class offices.

We have had to say our goodbyes to Frederic Pitkin Cranston, who died at the age of 78 on May 12 in Denver, Colo. Then came the shock of the loss of our Class Treasurer, Edgar Harold Elkins, 80, who died of a massive coronary thrombosis June 30 at Springfield (Mass.) Hospital Center. Finally, also delayed word came of the death of William McKinley Johnson, aged 79, on July 19 in Orlando, Fla. Later, as space becomes available, the careers of these three classmates, so outstanding in their professions of law, engineering, and business will be given.

The persuasive power of our President Vogie Stiles are again proven by his announcement that Pennell N. Aborn will carry on as Class Treasurer. No one is more qualified or more deserves the gratitude of all of us.

You grandmothers and grandfathers have until November 1 to send me the names and birthdays of any great-grandsons or daughters of whom you wish to brag. Watch for our feature story in the next issue.

You will receive from Abe Newmark a report of the fine showing made by '14 in this year's Alumni Fund Campaign. To Abe and his assistant class agents, all honor for their help.
