Comes once more the fall and the return home of those of us who have been away, the recounting of our adventures to any who will listen to us or, if we were not away, our submission to the tales of friends or relatives equally eager to tell us of theirs.

Summer is the time of getting better acquainted with our children and grandchildren, of weeks of getting ready for their visits and of let down when suddenly they are gone.

September is barely upon us when the reminder comes from Hanover that almost tomorrow is the deadline for October reopening of our class notes. Panicky, we look for the flood of mail from the lads and lassies of 1914 who wrote us during the summer only to realize to our sorrow that, just as we never found time to write letters, neither did they.

Happily the day is saved for this month thanks to Vogie Stiles having found in Henry Osgood Lowell of 905 Hacienda Drive, Sun City Center, Fla., a born newsgatherer as the succesor to SigLarmon as editor of our Class Newsletter. How fortunate we are in having so much talent on which to draw when needed. To Henry we all offer warm thanks and congratulations on his first issue already at hand.

An earlier letter from Hugh Mackinnon brought comment on a novel feature of the Dartmouth dinner in San Francisco at which special welcome was given prospective members of this year's freshman class of the gentler sex.

You know by now of the success of Dartmouth's 58th annual Alumni Fund. Pleasing to our Class Agent Abe Newmark and his loyal assistants must be the report that in participation our 127 contributors appear to rank 1914 in 18th place of the 73 classes listed.

Interesting to note, however, is that we appear still too young a class to be included in the category of the veterans classes whose listing starts with 1899 and ends with 1911.

That you have all had a busy summer is evident from the dearth of news of your activities but though sorely tempted to turn back the clock and to fill this column with what other secretaries reported of your doings in the October issues of even 50 years ago, I'll just say we love you, want to hear from you, and wish we could see you.
