FEBRUARY 1971 EDWARD K. ROBINSON, BRUCE W. SANBORN

It is with great sadness that we report the death of Class Secretary Leigh Turner on January 3. We lack details for this issue but hope to have them for an obituary to appear next month.

A letter from Ruth Streeter to Robbie relates an episode in the life of her grandson.

"Dear Robbie, You will be interested to hear that our grandson, Pfc. Thomas W. Streeter III who was recently with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam, has been awarded the Bronze Star for distinguishing himself during a combat assault into abandoned Fire Support Base Maureen. Coming under intense hostile fire. Company C suffered several casualties. Private Streeter continually subjected himself to enemy fire while maneuvering to aid his fallen comrades. Upon administering emergency first aid Private Streeter secured medical evacuation for the wounded men. His actions contributed greatly to saving numerous friendly lives. Private Streeter's personal bravery and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit on himself, his unit, and the United States Army.

"Young Tom was later injured while on patrol in the jungle, evacuated by helicopter to a Navy hospital ship and thence flown to Texas. He has now entirely recovered and is stationed at Ft. Carson, Colo. He plans to marry a college classmate when he finishes his tour of duty next summer. We are all very proud of him and I thought you would like to know what he had done.

With best wishes to you and all the Class of 1904 family, Ruth Streeter."

Members of the Streeter family are still getting honors and we can proudly add this one to the annals of the class.

Marion Woods writes from Fort Lauderdale, where she is spending the winter, "Isabel Gale will be in Arlington, Mass., for the winter, and Ellen Hinman at Clearwater, Fla. Sally Johnson tells me that she is well and that she heard from Charlie Davis and also from Ike Maynard, who is still busy traveling at 89. RuthStreeter writes, "I'm glad to see that you are holding '04 together." Marion says she only wishes it was possible!
