The Thayer School celebrated its centennial with a convocation in Hanover September 23-25. The speaker at the banquet in Alumni Hall was Bill Kimball, Emeritus Professor and former dean of the school and author of a book, "The First Hundred Years of the Thayer School."

Bill was honored during the summer at a meeting of the New Hampshire-Vermont Sections of the American Society of Civil Engineers by being presented with a Life Membership in the Society.

Hammie and Gratia Hammesfahr returned in late September from Johannesburg where they visited their kids and had a fabulous time—seeing all the sights in South Africa including a safari on which they saw 24 species of wild animals. They visited Paris and London on the way home.

Doc Simonds retired June 30 after teaching math and serving as assistant superintendent at Pelham High School since 1934. He was in the Navy for four years and rose to the rank of Commander.

Bud Osborn says "No retirement—too much fun working." He admits he built a "retirement" house in 1960 at Tryall, Jamaica (near Montego Bay) but hopes his retirement won't be until about 1985. He and Gloria get down there for six weeks a year and Bud spends ten weeks a year at his other office in St. Paul where they have an apartment in the top floor of his company's new office building. Home is Bronxville, N. Y., and Bud's office is on Park Ave. in New York. He is president and chairman of Economics Laboratory, Inc. Son Bart, Dartmouth '64 runs the company in Sydney, Australia.

Art Kneerim retired a year ago but soon decided he wanted to get back into business, so he is now busy in real estate and insurance in Stonington, Conn. Art was with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in New York City since 1946, serving as advertising promotion manager.

After months of searching, Chuck andIngrid Bruder have bought a house and undisclosed amount of land on Beaver Meadow Road, Norwich, Vt., which Chuck says is four miles beyond Herb and MimiSensenig's farm, on the same road. Chuck retired October 1 as a vice president of the Singer Co., but will continue as a director and plans to do consulting in the merger field, which has been his principal activity for the past eight years. Living in the Hanover area will make it easier for him to retain his job—with Kenerson and Hainesas official bartender at all '28 reunions, including the Fall Football Reunion Oct. 8-10 at the Norwich Inn.

Cal Billings won the title last summer of "Senior Realty Appraiser," an award issued by the Society of Real Estate Appraisers. Cal is president of the George M. Billings Co. in Hartford, Conn., and has 25 years experience in appraising income, commer- cial and industrial property._

Craig and Eleanor Haines took advan- tage of his retirement as a vice president of the First National Bank of Boston by taking an extended tour of the country. They went to the West Coast and the Canadian Rockies. In Seattle they stopped at the National Bank of Commerce to see MaxCarlson. It was directors day, but Max left them at lunch to say hello. Max has retired as president but is still a director and is chairman of Marine Bancorporation, the holding company of which the National Bank of Commerce is the largest subsidiary. Craig called Glen Lutey in Freeland, Wash., and learned that Glen has had three heart attacks and is now retired. Craig recommends the fine parlor car tour they took from Los Angeles to Carmel to Yosemite to San Francisco.

Ted Howard retired from Kendall Mills after being with the firm since 1929, but not liking to be idle has been doing consulting work.

Craig and Eleanor Haines report they drove down to visit the Lawson VanRipers and Carl Lundgrens, who live next door to each other in Oxford, Conn.

After a long vacation m Maine, Jimmyand Theo Fowler are back at William and Mary College, where Jimmy is Dean of the Faculty and a professor of History.

Herb and Dot Russell just got back from a trip to Canada and the Gaspé Peninsula.

Brougham and Claire Wallace have been vacationing in Delray Beach the last few winters and this summer decided to buy an apartment there. Brougham will retire the end of this year as a vice president of Morgan Guaranty Trust Co. after 43 years with the bank. They expect to spend the winter months in Florida but keep their home in Maplewood, N. J.
