Well, this is certainly the seven-year low of your secretary's tenure. News is conspicuous by its absence, and I suppose it means that '45s are so damn busy with college children, weddings, and the various problems of the late 40's that they just haven't had the time to make the news, or, if they have made the news, the natural '45 reticence prevents them from sharing the news with their classmates.

Tom Beaumont is now vice president of marketing for the United Fruit Company Division of United Brands Company. In this newly-created position, he is responsible for the overall operating management of banana marketing, and sales domestically and internationally. Previously, Tom was Young & Rubicam International's vice president for Continental Europe where he was involved in the successful introduction and development of the Chiquita brand in Europe. The release we got doesn't make clear whether he will continue to live in West Germany, but it would be nice if he found an address easier to spell than his previous firm's!

Dick Welch drops a note to explain his recent change of address. "Just a temporary change of address, the result of obtaining a sabbatical leave for the academic year, '71-'72. We will be back in Easton, Penn., at Lafayette College in a year's time. Will be working away during the coming year on a study of U. S. reaction to the American Philippine War of 1899-1902. Hope to see you at the home games in Hanover."

This is a good time to pass on a personal "hello" to John and Ann Buttler in Portland, Ore.—the other Portland! Ann, who grew up in Fall River, Mass., with three '45s, Howie Sawyer, Fred Alderman, and yours truly joined the Class after Colby Jr. by marrying John, who then went on to law school and practice in Portland.

Dick and Helen Murray and assorted children spent a few weeks of their summer in the Colorado mountains to gather strength before returning to Tucson, Ariz., for the new school year.

An announcement brings the information that Harry Durkin, that reunion piano playing (4 a.m.) psychiatrist, has opened the Durkin Clinic for the practice of child and youth psychiatry in Boston.

And another '45 medic is back in the office as Pete Beck, having mostly recovered from his spring airplane crash in the mountains of Mexico, is back at his chores as Portsmouth, N. H.'s ophthalmologist.

Maybe in another month there'll be more news—until then...
