The winter slump is with us - news is certainly scarce and the usual sources have gone dry. The space for news on the billheads seems to have been overlooked lately - only a few words scribbled in this space each year will serve to inform your classmates of the latest, happenings in your life.

Is this a first!?! Betty and Cliff Jordan announce the birth of a grandchild - Rebecca Christine - born to Dick (Dartmouth '68) and Penny Jordan on January 8, 1967. To the best of our knowledge, Betty and Cliff take the prize as the first grandparents in '45. Please forward any prior claims so the correction can be made if necessary.

Tom Yates, manager of commercial development for Olin Mathieson Inc., is the president of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Fairfield (Conn.) County. He,

Harry Hampton is in receipt of thank-you notes from the two undergraduates each of whom has been given $100.00 from our Memorial Book Fund. The two students are Frank Mwine '67, who was reported on in this column several months ago, and Roberto Sanchez '69. The latter is from Bogota, Colombia and is an art major.

The book fund, as well as the distribution of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE, is financed from the yearly dues payments, and at last report, faithful treasurer Hampton was finding the going a bit slow. Some 350 final dues notices went out in the past month - 332 classmates had paid up to that time. The record paying total is 422 and Harry had hopes of getting to that magic figure. The Alumni Fund will be on us by the time you read this and the dues problem seems like relatively small potatoes, but your $6.00 does keep the Class operating- have you done your share??

Al Ungar, in an exclusive interview at the fall reunion, brings us the latest in his sphere of operations. Al has been chairman of the board of Alexander Ungar, Inc., a packaging manufacturing firm, for the past eight years. He and Pat have two children, age ten and thirteen, and live in Westfield, N. J. Al has recently been president of the local country club and serves on the Union Country Dartmouth interviewing committee.

The '45 roster has been enlarged by one Dan Donahue, who attended the College as a Navy student during World War II, and returned two decades later to receive his degree in '64, has signified his desire to be affiliated with '45. Dan is a field auditor for B. F. Goodrich and lives in Hyattsville, Md. Glad to have you aboard, Dan!!

It is now Lines, McLouth, Wilkins and Osborn, as John Osborn's name has been added to the name of his Rochester law firm. John, a member of both the '45 executive committee and the Alumni Council, lives in Pittsford, N. Y. - he and Marylee have two children. John has served as president of the Dartmouth Club of Rochester, trustee of the First Presbyterian Church, Pittsford, and has been a committee chairman of the Council of Social Agencies.

Two recent elections found Gene Wilkin the new governor of the first district (New England), American Advertising Federation, and John White, a new director of the Canal National Bank, Portland, Me.

See you in April....

Secretary, 55 Cottage Farms Rd. Cape Elizabeth, Me.
