The Clements Library of the University of Michigan is making preparations to attend one of the auctions of Tom Streeter's famed collections this fall in New York City. The Streeter collection numbers 4,100 books in unusually fine condition. Some have never been offered for sale, others have not been sold for many decades. Interest indicates the transactions will set a new plateau of higher prices for Americana. The Clements Library hopes to secure many of these manuscripts which deal with the period of the settlement of the West in the Ohio Valley.
