Eight men, two of them recent graduates, have been awarded James B. Reynolds Scholarships by Dartmouth College for graduate study abroad dwing the academic year 1971-72. The selection was made by the Committee of Graduate Fellowships, headed by William E. Slesnick, Associate Professor of Mathematics.

Alumni recipients, both members of the Class of 1969, are: Kenneth I. Paul from Forest Hills, Long Island, N. Y., now teaching English at Concord (N. H.) High School, who will study English literature at Pembroke College, Oxford University; and Donald B. Elitzer from East Greenbush, N. H., now serving in the Peace Corps in Brazil, who will study philosophy, politics, and economics at Lincoln College, Oxford University.

Seniors awarded the Reynolds Scholarships are: Michael J. Roberts of Houston, Texas, who will study English literature at Trinity College, Cambridge University; F. Peter Phillips, of Pacific Palisades, Calif., who will study acting in England; Russell A. Mittermeier of North Babylon, N. Y., who will study bio-behavioral sciences at either Oxford or Cambridge University; Karl D. Maurer of Maple Glen, Pa., who will study humane letters at Oxford Univer- sity; David S. Griffeath, of Sausalito, Calif., who will study mathematics at Cambridge University; and John H. Marshall, of Fairlawn, N. J., who will study modern history at King's College, Cambridge University.

The Reynolds Scholarships were established by the bequest of the late James B. Reynolds, Class of 1890, and are awarded annually to outstanding Dartmouth graduates for study abroad. Mr. Reynolds was prominent in the national Republican Party and in international trade organizations.
