Secretary, 1075 Druid Dr. Maitland, Fla. 32751
Our annual meeting was held on Tuesday, March 30, our guest speaker from Hanover being none other than MikeMcGean '49, Secretary of the College. It is always a great pleasure to have Mike with us and especially to get a first-hand report on events in Hanover. There were over forty alumni with their wives or guests including recent arrivals, Capt. Bill Harrison, '30, USN Retd. and his wife Mary and Gus Aberle '55 and his wife Caryl. Also, a very special guest was Mrs. Elizabeth Hill, the mother of our Ken Simonds '25 and whose husband was Harry C. Hill '02.
As this was our annual meeting, the following officers were elected for the coming year: President, Roy A. Wesselmann '27; Phil Pendleton '54, vicepresident; Ken Thomas '21, secretary, and Mike Murphy '61, treasurer. Also elected to the Executive Committee were Don Cheney '11, John Tiedtke '30, Carl Pfau '13, Dick Proctor '43 and Val Schuler 3rd '45.
We are winding up a full schedule of meetings with each month being set aside for something special. Our last meeting for this 1970-71 season will be an outdoor picnic for members and wives at the lake front home of Libby and Ernie Drosdick '58.
On April 28, a group from here, went to Daytona Beach for a combined luncheon with alumni from Daytona Beach and Ormond Beach. The purpose of this meeting was to bring our groups closer together and also to explore the possibility of their forming a new alumni club if there was sufficient interest. This is of course in the future, but in the meantime, we hope to have one meeting a year with their group. As they had not seen the film "1970 Football Highlights," we took that with us and all enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately, several alumni were away some for the summer, and we now plan to meet in Daytona Beach in January of 1972. It was a pleasure to meet the following alumni from the East Coast area: Cloyd Maynard '04, Al Palmer '20, Red Stanley '21, Charlie Street '30, Henry Newman '34, Roy Bergengren '36, Doug Cochran '37 and Sam Bell 3rd '61.
