Our annual Christmas luncheon was held on Friday, December 22 at the Mt. Vernon Motor Lodge in Winter Park with eighteen alumni and guests in attendance. Our president, Randy Wilson '52, presided and after the food was served, we all toasted the Holiday Season with an elixir furnished by Don Cheney '11, a delicious concoction that only Don can produce. Our special guest from Hanover was to be Roger Penland, newly appointed assistant basketball coach, but, due to a very tight travelling schedule, he at the last minute was unable to be with us. We sincerely hope that we can look forward to having Rog with us in the near future.
It was an extreme honor and pleasure to have with us Dr. Andy Truxal, Hon. '35, Randy Wilson's father-in-law. As many of you know, Dr. Truxal was a sociology professor at Dartmouth for over twenty years and this luncheon meeting afforded a reunion for Dr. Truxal with Lou Ingram '26 who taught at Dartmouth at the same time.
As is our regular custom at this Christmas meeting, we invite the undergraduates in the immediate area to be our guests and were proud to have with us Chuck Shaver '69 and John Shanahan '71. For the past two years, Chuck has given an informal talk on current events at Dartmouth and as usual his message was most interesting and given in exceptionally fine style and with a definite knowledge of his subject.
Dick Proctor '43 had as his guest his son Rick, whom we all hope will join the Dartmouth family in the Class of '72. In addition to our regulars, it was good to see Hugh Schwarz '40 back for the holidays from his new appointment with the Coca Cola Company in Atlanta, and also a recent member of our fair community, J. Penn Carolan '18.
Holiday Mixers at the Essex & MorrisClub's festivities at Essex Fells (N. J.)Country Club were President Pete Bixby'51, Bruce Saylor '70 and Robert A.Florin '68.
