Secretary, 20 Overlook Terrace Short Hills, N. J. 07078
Our club ended a successful year with the election of a new slate of officers for the ensuing season as follows: Wayne French, president; Don Voss '58, Jake Jacobus '58, and Ward Rowley '55, vice presidents; Charlie Parton '63, treasurer; and John Barker '55, secretary.
The Scholarship Committee met this summer and selected Stephen Shmanske '76 of Livingston as the recipient of this year's scholarship award. Second in his class at Livingston High School, Steve is also a fine soccer player and the committee believes he is well qualified to merit our support.
Andy Murtha '46 was host to the second annual Dartmouth Morris-Essex County Golf Day at Maplewood Country Club, in May. Medalist honors went to Phil O'Connor '25 with 77. Dave Weld '46, Jake Jacobus '58, and Tom Aitken '56 followed with 78, 79, 81 respectively. Lowest net went to Dave Weld '46 with 66. Don Voss '58 and Andy Murtha '46 followed with 70's. The best net 15-hole prizes went to Jake Jacobus '26 and DaveFrench '62 with 51 and 52 respectively. It seems like the Annual Club Golf Day is becoming institutional; consequently, the Club is looking forward to another outing this fall.
The Club Spring Picnic was held in June at the Short Hills Country Day School. Pony rides, tennis, softball, and keg beer were part of an enjoyable day.
The calendar of events for the coming year will be announced early in the fall and your officers look forward to increased participation and financial support of the club's activities.
