FLASH! DARTMOUTH JOINS HARVARD! As a result of numerous meetings between IraHerman, '42, President of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Greater Boston, and Jim Fitzgibbons, President of the Harvard Club, members of the Dartmouth Club have been invited to join the Harvard Club as full-fledged members. This will provide Dartmouth Alumni in the Boston area with the opportunity of using the downtown dining room on Batterymarch St., together with the quite extensive facilities located at the main clubhouse on Commonwealth Avenue. Ray Neff '64 will be handling the applications for membership.
Dick Page '54 has been doing a magnificent job in editing a new news letter, The Dahtmuth, "a proper news letter for the Dartmouth alumni who reside in greater Boston." Dick covers various happenings of interest to local alumni on a timely and most readable basis.
Back in November, the Association sponsored a week-long junket to Denmark. The trip was so successful, with an airliner full of Dartmouth alumni and wives that a second trip is being planned for April 1972. We anticipate that this will also be smashing success.
Another first—the Dartmouth Alum Association of Greater Boston sponsored an art exhibition in the Art Gallery of Boston's new city hall. The show consisted of works from a selection of the top, contemporary American artists who have spent periods of time in residence at Dartmouth since the Hopkins Center opened in 1962. This covered a two-week period, and on Friday October 22, the day before the not-soon-to be-forgotten Harvard-Dartmouth game of 1971 a cocktail party was held at the city hall sponsored by the Association.
Back in September, Bob Brace '52, a great job in hosting a luncheon for 22 incoming freshmen and their dads plus a few alumni. If this group was representative, things look good for Dartmouth in the years to come.
All in all, it has been and promises to continue as a most interesting and active year for the Boston Association.
The annual dinner—husbands and wives —will be held on April 4 at the Newton Marriott. For those in the area, mark your calendar. You will hear more on this later
