Dave Schaefer made his departing remarks short and sweet. I'll make my introductory comments equally brief.

I want to make it perfectly plain that I did not actively campaign for this job. It came to me quite by accident—like a broken arm. But I have it, welcome it as an opportunity to renew contact with many of you, and shall attempt to maintain the interest and readability that Dave injected into this column.

We (the family "we" including wife Pat and daughters Allison and Andrea) recently removed to Keene, N. H., from Washington, D. C. Keene has a daily newspaper, for which I write—mainly editorials. "We" just got a McDonald's in town, which lends to the area a thrilling sense of the cosmopolitan.

Our Class seems to do considerably better at preserving its secrets than the present administration in Washington. Only a handful of items, classified and otherwise, have been delivered to me by my informed sources. Here a few to whet your taste for the sensational:

Bruce Phillips is "still working happily" at the National Bahai Center in Wilmette, Ill., while serving also as part-time professor of political science and international relations at Kendall College in Evanston.

In surburban Rochester, N. Y., Dr. TomMcInerny has started practicing pediatrics, while at the Third Field Hospital somewhere in Vietnam Dr. Paul Kraus is "chief of urology" and looking forward to setting up his practice in Waterbury, Conn. Paul plans to retain affiliation with Yale where he did his medical training.

Vaughn Skinner has a new title—assistant vice president at Marine Midland Bank in Syracuse. No mention of old title or new salary.

On the ladder of life at Connecticut General, Bob Burgess has advanced to associate controller. Bob joined the company shortly after graduation.

Jim Libbey has been developing the private side of law in Antioch, Calif., after serving for more than a year on the public side as deputy district attorney for Contra Costa County (Calif.). Jim graduated in 1968 from the University of San Francisco Law School.

Geoff Murphy's world in the past year has stretched from London to Charlotte, N. C. That's what you get working for Price Waterhouse. Geoff spent the last six months of 1970 in London as one of five office managers from the U. S. in the firm's exchange program to the United Kingdom. He had barely returned when "I was approached about moving." Thus, Charlotte, where the Murphy's first son, lan Patrick, evidently arrived last July.

Bob Burgess has been appointed associate controller, controller's department, at Connecticut General Life Insurance. He joined the company in 1963 and was appointed actuarial assistant in 1965, senior actuarial assistant three years later, and assistant actuary in 1969. Bob is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and an instructor at the University of Connecticut School of Insurance in Hartford. He served the College as assistant class agent in 1969 and 1970.

Seven years as an engineer and you want a change in life style, perhaps BobHaubrich changed his rather abruptly, taking a wife, Jude, last May I, and then taking her to Hanover where Bob is in his first year at Tuck School. The contemporary Haubrich life style also includes living in a student duplex at Sachem Village with sons Carey and Michael, a St. Bernard, cocker spaniel, cat and monkey.

And on the subject of life styles, what of your's?
