The Bank of New York has elected Doug Adams as vice president in the trust department. Doug, who joined the bank in 1962, has been busy in his spare time earning an MBA from New York University, a J.D. degree from St. Johns, being admitted to the New York State bar, and obtaining a certificate of completion from the National Trust School of Northwestern University. Apparently Doug was able to put the commuting time from Milford, Conn, to Wall Street to good use.
Two classmates who are members of the Dartmouth Medical School faculty have received awards for five years of research related to air pollution the heart and lungs. Dr. Don Bartlett and Dr. John Remmers, both assistant professors of physiology, are recipients of National Institute of Health Research Career Development Awards, the purpose of which is to foster the development of young scientists with outstanding research potential. Don's research will focus on factors that influence the development of the lung and specifically what effects the breathing of polluted air in early childhood may have on lung development and capability. Basic research into the mechanics of breathing, the most often repeated muscular act a mammal does, will be John's field, and his studies will involve one year in Sweden where there are research "techniques not known here."

Northern Michigan-bound travellers have an invitation to use Al Hurlbut's just finished year-round vacation house. The way he describes the facilities, which includes skiing, swimming, fishing, hunting and hiking, it looks as if he will be there as often as possible escaping Detroit and his employer. Ford Motor Co.
Bob Worthington is back in the Army's Medical Service Corps as a student at the University of Utah completing work on his Ph.D. in counseling psychology. Next step in two years will be to Walter Reed Hospital for internship, although I gather it will be hard to leave Salt Lake City where he and Anita have become mortgagees on a 40-year-old twelve room house.
A one-liner from Mike Miller states that he is a resident in orthopedic surgery at the University of Virginia and living in Charlottesville with wife Derry and daughter Heather. What will you charge for fixing a bum knee, Mike?
I'm jealous of Norrie Nims who lives at Mile 62 Richardson Highway, Copper Center, Alaska, and runs his own excavating company in the summer and keeps occupied during the winter by plowing the annual 13-foot snowfall for the Highway Department. Norrie puts out a where-oh-where for '59 chubbers of D.O.C. days for "they haven't shown up yet and there is where they should be."
Tom Sessel recently joined the Ford Foundation staff in N. Y. as a program officer in the fields of government, housing and minority affairs. Extra curricularly, Tom is a member of the Hopewell, N. J. school board.
LCDR and helicopter pilot Bob Weston was recently reassigned from NAS Imperial Beach to two years of shore duty at the Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare School in San Diego. After being away from home for the better part of 4 years deployed in the Western Pacific, he is happy to be able to stick close to his Chula Vista home and concentrate on making payments on the pool he recently built. He's never far from water, you'll note.
