Emerging from winter hibernation, our class poet, Elmer Robinson, offers "AdMania":
"I'm sure that I shall never see A "bulk-mail" lovely as a tree So Ad-man I would pay hard cash To stop this daily flood of trash Oh, Ad-man, I should hail with glee My mail-box from your "junk" quite free Or trash-can somehow large enough To house this raucous printed stuff. But maybe to avert my ire You could mail it—In the fire!"
A most welcome letter from PaulApplin reports spring busting out all over in Jackson, Miss. Enclosed were pictures from freshman days of Bob Hogsett and Moose Engelhorn in football gear and a group in front of Middle Fairweather that includes Paul, Fred Cranston, Roy Kitterage, Hal Pease, Ed Clark, L.D.White, Win Loveland and Roger Rice.
Without knowing how many or how often pictures can be run in these notes, copies from your treasured files are warmly invited.
Still in the dark whether or not you like to know whose birthdays come in what month, I'd like an aye or a nay from Myron Files of Northwood Ridge, N.H.; Carleton Kingsford of East Wakefield, N.H.; Willard Kinne of Cincinnati, Ohio; Hugh McKinnon of San Francisco, Cal.; Paul Smith of Clearwater, Fla.; and JohnWarren of Wrentham, Mass. All were born in May, as was your secretary; two in 1891, six in 1892.
A very sweet note from Constance Poole expressed her thanks for our memorial book given to the Dartmouth Library in her husband's name. She refers to the inscription, "to the loyal men of Dartmouth," to which our comment is that none was ever more loyal than Frances.
Also to the Class has come a note from Margaret McCallum, expressing her appreciation and that of her children, including son Bill, for our memorial book in the name of our adopted classmate, James McCallum.
Before you have read this, you may know already that Sig Larmon's committment to Vogie Stiles to carry on as newsletter editor succeeding Mart Remsen is running out with Sig's spring letter, and that the baton is passing to Henry O.Lowell whose acceptance will please all of us. His present address is 905 Hacienda Drive, Sun City Center, Fla. 33570.
The indefatigable Jim Hawley writes from the far West of pausing in dry, hot Phoenix on his way home, presumably to rest up before taking off in June to share in his wife's 50th reunion at Pembrook.
As for reunions, all class officers and their wives are invited by the College to a weekend program in Hanover Friday and Saturday May 5-6. Watch this column for a full report in the June issue.
