The Class of 1931 and co-agents John W.Cogswell and William B. Minehan were recipients of the first Roger C. Wilde '21 Reunion Giving Trophy at the May 6 Class Officers meeting. Accompanying the award which was presented by its donor, Roger C. Wilde '21 (left), was this citation:
Last year as the new Class Reunion Giving Program was first inaugurated, Roger C. Wilde '21, a former Chairman of the Dartmouth Alumni Fund, decided that a new award should be created to recognize the outstanding class under this program.
We are pleased that this first Roger C. Wilde Award goes to the Class of 1931, led last year by John Cogswell and Bill Minehan to a historic and unique achievement of becoming the first class in Fund history to raise over $100,000 in a single year campaign. This doubled their previous year's dollar total, and 1931, with 18 men giving $1,000 or more, ranked second among all classes in this category, while leading all classes in Century Club members with a record total of 185. This 40th year achievement capped John Cogswell's three years as Head Agent, and it was no mere happenstance that his successor as Head Agent proved to be Bill Minehan.
It is, thus, a very high privilege to recognize both of these distinguished leaders, and all men of 1931 who worked with them and helped so generously, by presenting to John Cogswell and Bill Minehan this first Roger C. Wilde Trophy Award.
