Well, Winter Carnival has passed and for those of you who are no longer on the Hanover biological calendar, that means that March is upon us. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their comments on the January column and to tell all those well wishers that despite popular demand, I refuse to promise that I will refrain from similar columns in the future!

In the line of real news. Warren Montgomery has concluded a stint as an assistant buyer in the record department of a large Boston department store. He was engaged in the sale of 7 track stereo tapes. Records of his sales are incomplete. I

received news that three '72s now in med school got together in Philadelphia for the Penn game this fall. Bud Lynch (Dartmouth Med) Steve Tift (Rochester Med), and Mike Quinn (Georgetown Med) watched the Big Green roll to its fourth consecutive Ivy title. Buddy, along with Tim Copper, a Tuck student, helped coach the Dartmouth frosh football team this fall.

Ken. Chandler Jones married Karla Ann Klasson (Mount Holyoke '72) early in December in Hanover, Mass. Best wishes are extended by the Class. I wonder if he's given any tips on wedding preparations to Fabian Ropogol?

Gary McFadden is currently at Temple Med School. He reports that he's working hard despite the efforts of a couple of 18-year-old dental hygienists. So far his Dartmouth education has allowed him to resist temptation, but by the time you read this, he may have capitulated.

Tom Kent has his three pairs of skiis sharpened and waxed, hoping for winter. Unless January weather prevails (no snow in Hanover), Thayer school will probably be minus one student until the spring thaw.

Vermont is pretty chilly during the winter months. Attesting to that fact is Dwight Sargent, Tuck School student, whose house in Thetford had, at last report, no heat. He'll have to find something to keep him warm at night. I've heard that warm milk is good ...

Dave Carroll wrote to me and told me that he is pursuing his acting career in the New York City area. It appears that all is not glitter in that field and it is only a deep determination that keeps yon going. But, if you see that something will make you happy, you're cheating yourself or selling yourself short if you don't push for your dream.

Joe Davis writes that he is at SMU working on a master's degree in geology. He's living with John Jurkovich who is attending SMU Business School. Their ability to consume liquid refreshment has amazed many of their classmates and has left them wondering what really goes on in the Northeast. Steve Malhum made it back to Dallas after bicycling across country this summer, and is now interviewing for bank jobs in Dallas and New York. Danny Holland has joined the Marines and is awaiting assignment while Beta-mate Tom Kavanaugh is working for MONY in Syracuse.

I thought I should pass on a little smattering of information to the married members of our class. There is a little known award made by the Class to the first bundle of joy delivered to an alumnus and his wife after graduation. This first Big Green offspring is designated as the "Class Child" and receives an engraved silver spoon!! That's quite a deal, huh? And, thanks to a progressive class executive committee the award is made to the parents of any child, whereas it was previously awarded only to the parents of the first male child. I hope this inspires our married classmates to strive for this coveted award with all possible haste.

I thought I should take this opportunity to pass on a new phenomenon at Dartmouth, that of the coed roadtrip. Yup, it's a reality now. Not all of the young women in Hanover found it to be the social panacea. So, when things get slow during the week, some of the girls grab a few road beers and hit the highway! The presence of women does not coeducation make ...

On a serious note, it has been brought to my attention that '72s have not expressed their opinions on campus controversies. We are the youngest alumni class and we are therefore the most proximate in time to the issues. I think it is our duty to let the rest of the alums in on our thoughts. Think about writing a letter to the Alumni Magazine.

Apologies for no column last month. Exams took their toll. Fabian and I beg your indulgence for our malfeasance.
