The Dartmouth Club of Bergen County and the Wellesley Club of Ridgewood joined forces in April in a different and enjoyable fund-raising benefit for their respective college scholarship funds.
Although altruistic in nature, the "Evening of Wine and Art," provided participants with some fringe benefits, including a wide range of Bordeaux wines supplied by the French Wine Bureau and further refreshments of bread and cheese.
Robert J. Misch '25, connoisseur, author, and columnist, gave a lecture on wines calculated to transform into gourmets those attending the evening at Ramapo College, Mahwah.
The climax of the program was an art auction where the action may have been somewhat enlivened by the preceding wine tasting. The Art Guild Gallery of Smithtown, Long Island, provided more than 125 works of art — oils, watercolors and lithographs from such artists as Picasso, Miro, and Chagall, and an original by Paul Sample '20.
Organizers of the benefit were Mrs. Balfour Golden and Richard H. Flicker '46, club presidents, and Mrs. Donald W. Johnson and I. Robert Levine '54.
